Cutler is practicing. Thank God.

I like Cutler, but why thank god?

Aren't we already in tank mode? I know I'm in tank mode.

team is practically unwatchable without him.

I'm more or less in tank mode but I will prefer Cutler starting any game in comparison to the other bums.

Yea Cutler was never going to be out long enough to go full tank. Plus running a HS offense with Claussen doesn't let us properly evaluate young guys like Wilson or even Long.

Because the Cubs season could be over a week from today and I'm not prepared to watch uncompetitive Bears football for 3 months, or even 6 weeks. As bad as they are, they've at least proven they can compete with good teams with Cutler at the helm.

If they end up with a 3 or 4 win season and a Top 5 pick, great, but it's against my nature not to root for Bears wins. And unlike baseball, football season is far too short not to enjoy every game.

I want to see hero Cutler limp out onto the field and sling that football all over the yard.

Don't see how winning games at this point is enjoyable. The Bears started 1-11 in 1997 and then won 3 of the last 5 and ended up missing out on Peyton Manning. I hope they go 0-16.

not doing it, not rooting against them all year before the season is even close to done. that's crazy, especially when they actually have some ability, people are selling them way short.

this reminds me of when hero rex ran out on the field on SNF against vick and the falcons in 2005 when it was like 2 degrees out to start the second half and immediately delivered a 20-30 yard strike to muhsin after orton could barely complete a pass in the whole first half.

i mean if there were a peyton manning or even andrew luck in this draft, maybe, but there isn't. i value my entertainment every week over getting a slightly better player (who might not even end up being that). the nfl draft is too deep to care that much.

probably the biggest ovation rex ever got.

it was like his bush right after 9/11 moment as far as approval rating.

my second favorite non-06 rex moment of all time is when he came back in oakland when griese got hurt and immediately threw like a 50 yard TD bomb to berrian, fred miller hold be damned.

You really have to be some kind of disillusioned weirdo to not see how winning games this early in the season is enjoyable.

Also, Peyton manning isn't in this draft.

This team is terrible and isn't making the playoffs, there's literally no benefit to winning games

Have you ever heard of something called entertainment? It's literally the reason 99% of people watch sports.

I think the Bears could look to trade 1 of Willie Young or Lamarr Houston. I've heard some names rumored, but I don't think any of Bennett, Jeffery, or Slauson go anywhere. Word is the team will franchise Jeffery if they can't re-sign him. And they are being ultra safe with him as if they want him around. But I think one guy that may go, who I have not heard rumored, is Jeremiah Ratliff. The Bears DL has played 3 games without him and been pretty decent. Sutton and Jenkins have played really well. Goldman and Ferguson have been OK. That Unrein dude was really good on Sunday. And he's a FA after the year.

But yeah, I think Forte probably has to go. He isn't in the team's long-term plans, and they can't really find out if Langford can be the guy next year with Forte still taking 90% of the snaps.

This team isn't entertaining now and won't be even if they win 6 or 7 games. I want them to be entertaining going forward and we have to take our lumps now, I'm all for losing 14 games.

Has there ever been an NFL team to do such a big sell off? I know its only in the past few years that the trade deadline was pushed back, but I can't remember a team ever being so aggressive in trades.

I'm not sure on giving up on Brock Vereen after 2 years. He probably isn't good but if you're getting rid of a safety, at least give him a shot instead of Antrel Rolle who has 0 future with the Bears.

I don't like cutting him when you have guys named Chris Prosinki and Harold Jones-Quartey as your backup safeties now, but Vereen has shown since the last 6 weeks last year til Sunday that he's kinda bad at everything. Looked like he could cover in his first game last year, but has since proven to be a liability there. He has had bad showings in coverage, run support, tackling, and special teams when he's been on the field. But he was one of several players (along with guys like Bostic) who only made the team in the first place because they were young and there were limited resources to bring in better options.

good luck with that.

players like to win games, they hate losing games, it's not good for team morale and I don't want to watch a bunch of guys who have given up and don't believe that management is supporting them on the field, especially 3 [expletive] games into the season. that's not enjoyable to me, nor should it be for anyone.

with Cutler, the Bears have a puncher's chance to win tough games, so I'm going to keep watching and hoping they win until the end of the season.

Vereen had no physicality, no instinct and no size. Goodbye.

As for the Bears, it's looking like they're going to get hosed on the top shelf QB talent this year. Aside from Cook (meh) and Goff who both don't really look like surefire talents at QB, they could likely just pick the best defensive player available.

I don't understand this. I don't know if you're saying there's no top shelf talent or if they won't be bad enough to pick one of the top guys. I don't think either are true. Sure, if you want to call guys like Luck, Peyton, Eli, Rivers top shelf talent...there's none of those guys, but there's hardly ever any of those guys. Bears could be waiting forever if that's what they're looking for. But Goff or Cook could be fine NFL QBs. Cook reminds me of a Matt Ryan type, maybe poor man's version but definitely a guy that can start early and be slightly more than a game manager in the NFL at worst. Goff reminds me of a Derek Carr type. Lot of talent, hard to get a feel on with his college offense, but definitely worth a shot at seeing if he can be someone to build around.

I also don't know that the Bears take defense 1st. I would definitely lean toward getting an elite OT with the 1st round pick (if you don't love the QBs). But a guy like Jalen Ramsey is really intriguing on D. Playing CB this year, which I don't love him there but he's played S in the past and he's a physical prototype DB. Feel like you can play him anywhere in the back there and build around him.

Yea if I don't feel strongly about the QBs I can definitely get on board with a OT. Let's lock down 3/5 of our line for the next 5 years.
