The Bryant walk-off did it for me for all the reasons Tryptamine explained. Also everyone in the house had already fallen asleep except me and my 12 year old daughter. As soon as the ball left his bat we both exploded into our own play call, hugs and hi-fives and woke everybody up. That's a memory I don't think either of us will ever forget.

5/15 versus the Pirates at Wrigley, birth of the Rally Double Bubble Bucket and Polanco falls down in the 12th.

This might not be my favorite moment, but it was a great moment. I had recorded the game while I was at work and avoided hearing about the score all day. I came home, turned on the game and opened up NSBB just to read other threads or maybe follow along with the game thread while not reading ahead. However, the top thread was something like "bullpen grievance thread" that had been bumped. I immediately knew the cubs would be leading and then blow the game. I still didn't check the score and continued to watch anyway, knowing they would inevitably lose in a horrible way. It felt like more than one win.

Yesterday. Seeing Starlin yank those two dongs and getting the curtain call nearly made me tear up.

We're pretty friendly to people who don't post dumb things. So as long as you don't post dumb things (or are at least open minded about said dumb things), you should be OK.

This. Castro has been on an absolute tear since being relegated as a part-time player and I couldn't be happier for him. He definitely deserved the demotion, but, for a player that has been on this team longer than anyone else (i think), he's taken it all in stride. I just love this team and I'm so happy he's positively contributing for them again.

In July I took the family to Atlanta for 2 games -- Lester took a no no into the 8th. Arietta was money. Good times, right?

I dropped the family at home and me and 2 buddies went to Wrigley for the last 2 Phillies games and the first Rockies game. So, the Hammels no hitter (bummer). . . . . . but we were there when Bryant hit THE WALK OFF (Pt 1).

The cubs were playing kinda crappy up to that point and it seems like that play has been a spring board to better things. The atmosphere after the game was incredible. Even after the crappy play against the Phils, there was a sense of "we actually are good" in the air.

A close 2nd for me was taking my son to see Bryant play in Memphis for Iowa. I really had no idea what KB was about. I knew he was a stud prospect, but the guy was impressive in his general demeanor. My son had been following him much closer than I had, and he was in baseball heaven. Getting to see him in the minors then again in the majors has been the highlight of my kids' year. Hopefully some playoff wins and KB homers are still in the future.

That's awesome. I have been to several Cubs games in ATL and there is always a strong Cubs presence. Mixed bag when it comes to the receptivity from Braves fans, but I suppose that's the case for any fan of an opposing team. They were kind of dicks the last time, though.

Anyway, also awesome is that my son is 3 months old (+1 day) and it's pretty cool that his first "favorite cubs player" most likely will be from the current core we are seeing today. His first word will probably be "mom" but I'm trying my ass off to make it "cubs".
