Here at Fred's instructions. I HOPE YOU'RE OK OUT THERE TREE.

Cubs did what they needed to in the Pirates series, taking 3/4 and now sit a scant 2 games back. I dunno about you folks, but I'm done worrying about catching the Cardinals. Having that wild card game at Wrigley however, could be huge.

PLUS, this series is a big chance for the Cubs to gain on the Bucs as they are on the road in LA and facing Grienke and Kershaw in the first two games.

Last time these pitchers faced these teams, Haren was lights out and Lynn got his ass kicked. LET'S DO THAT AGAIN.

GO CUBS

I'll share this again (courtesy of UMFan):

ask me about this after we sweep them (win or lose tonight)

Another fun fact: With a DBacks loss tonight, the Nationals and Giants will be the only two teams left in contention for the WC behind the Cubs. Giants are down to 9 heading into tonight's game.

With a return to the friendly dong-fines, I expect the Cubs to hit a lot of dongs.

I also really feel like the Cubs are very capable of playing 2 games better than the Pirates the rest of the way.

And 0 AL teams have been officially eliminated from contention.

Even crazier to me: the second to last team, the Tigers, have the same magic # (8) as the Nationals.

The A's are the only team not on baseball reference's wild card standings page They include all teams within 10 games. A .500 team in the NL would be 11.5 out.

Thanks for beating the Pirates. Sorry you have to lose now.

Prepare to be swept by Dan Haren, not even Dan Haren and soon to be announced Sunday starter.
