The Cubs are 15-0 when they score 3 runs and Arrieta is starting(that they are 6-8 when scoring less than 3 is a pretty strong testament to Arrieta). There's the line, 3 runs. Go get them.

You know your lineup is [expletive] stacked when Javy bats 8th.

Has Maddon given any reason why the pitchers have moved back to the 9 hole?

Haven't heard, but assume it's just the guys he expects to go 9 innings, thus reducing part of the reason why you benefit from hitting them 8.

I'm an idiot and made plans to start a road trip anniversary/vacation the date of the NL Wild Card game. It's either win the division or I listen to the game instead of watching. I guess it could be worse, I really like Pat.

Saw some stupid power rankings of playoff team lineups. Seemed at least somewhat thought out, factoring in current injuries, platoons, etc. but then they ranked the Cubs 5th,well behind the #2 Pirates, calling Starling Marte an emerging star.

Cubs players in tonight's lineup with higher OPS than Starling Marte:

Fowler

Schwarber

Coghlan

Rizzo

Bryant

Baez

and Montero is .004 behind

I don't think we can really count Javy in that.

Marte's a 12.2 fWAR player over this season and the previous two and a 14.6 rWAR player in that same time, and he's only 23. He's having a bit of a down year relative to the previous two if you go by Fangraphs, but he's been pretty damn awesome.

Who's only 23? Marte turns 27 next month.
