Winning good. Losing Bad. Let's keep this winning thing going.

In today's match-up of the weak vs. the strong the douchebacks send something to the mound called a Rubby DeLaRosa:

He will meet up against the professor, who will charm the bats of the snakes with his masterful use of intellectual pitching:

The Cubs complete the sweep and Baez goes deep... final score 6-3. #WeAreGood #LetsGo :clapping:

Ewwww, the pitching matchups against the Cardinals don't look great for us. Let's sweep tomorrow.

Also, De La Rosa has some pretty big splits, so I wouldn't get your hopes up for Javy starting. Could be a La Stella day.

It's the lineup we need to score runs after Hendrix gives up runs.

Where's Schwarber?

Out for the past 3-4 days with a rib strain.

Might return tomorrow.

I can only assume him staying in the 3 spot would eventually degrade your brain to the point where you start sounding like Bernie Lincicome

It's needless lineup alchemy at this point now that they have Jackson. It does little but potentially get less AB's for better hitters.

Why are they talking like Baez is 21 in that story when he's going to be 23 in a few months?

Unless they are talking about last season?

Yeah, I thought one of the perks of batting a decent hitter 9th is that you can more easily put your best hitters 2-3. Instead, our best hitters are 4-5.

Also, I'm surprised Javy is playing. Maddon was talking about playing the matchups with him and De La Rosa could be a tough one for him. On the other hand, on a hot day with the wind blowing out, it probably makes sense to put more dongsmen in.

CUBS are 20-4 (.833) when Coghlan hits in the third spot

It made more sense when Schwarber was in the lineup and they didn't have Jackson, but with both of those factors changed for the time being it's pretty silly pushing the best hitters further down the lineup and potentially getting them less AB's. Coghlan is a useful player, but I'd prefer him to not needlessly get more swings than Rizzo or Bryant.

Ewww we have to go through our 3,4,5 starters next few days..Hope we can at least take one game.

The secret is to club 'em into submission !!

Over the last 35 games (25-10).............

07/29 - 09/05 AB R H 2b 3b HR TB RBI BB SO BA OBP SLG OPS
CUBS 1149 178 288 56 9 58 536 171 124 342 0.251 0.330 0.466 0.796

the CUBS are scoring 5.09 R/G. This is on a pace for 116 wins, 824 runs, 268 HRs, 574 BBs. This is very nearly 2008 level offense.
