I agree with Arrieta's decision to let them get a hit so that there'd be no pressure for him to go unnecessarily deep in the game, but I don't understand why he let them get his pitch count so high.

CUBS are 16-10 (.615) when their pitcher gets a hit.... 60-47 (.561) when he doesn't

CUBS are 17-7 (.708) when they execute a sac bunt.... 59-50 (.541) when they don't

Potentially unpopular opinion, but since we're more or less locked in to the one game playoff, should the Cubs be giving any thought to watching arrietas innings before October? He's already at his career high, and he'll finish today 30something innings above last year.
