Dammit every time he comes up I expect that this is the AB he just starts clobbering it (yes I know he homered in the last game)

Yeah I really don't get why Maddon has stacked our lefties up since switching to the Coghlan at 2B thing. Maybe its been working so he is reluctant to change it? I dunno, I just feel like having it go:

2.schwarb

3.cogh

4.rizzo

Is less effective/ makes less sense than

2.schwarb

3.bryant

4.rizzo

5.soler

6.cogh

Am I out of the loop on something? Because alternating L-R-L-R makes more sense to me.

i think he was just sticking with the lineup that was winning. i bet it's switched up soon

See this is the problem with Coghlan hitting 3rd...you are going to find situations where he either has to hit against a lefty or you have to put someone like Chris Denofria into the heart of your lineup. Denofria is ok but not someone Id like hitting between Schwarber and Rizzo.

Rizz!

Plus, most of the time you're taking him out for defense. How about:

Fowler

Russell

Schwarber

Bryant

Rizzo

Soler

Montero

Pitcher

Coghlan

??

Rizzo needs to be higher than 5. Stick Fowler between Soler/Montero?

Coghlan is hitting 3rd because it's easier to get him a 3rd at bat and then immediately yank him from the game. You put him 6th and run into a bunch of situations where you want to replace him but he's due up 3rd and you didn't use a PH last inning(or something similar). Coghlan being among 3 good LH hitters to face a LHP is better than Herrera getting at bats at all. Maybe that changes with more confidence in Castro's bat, but in this case he wasn't an option already because he was part of the previous rally.
