This has to be the most muted upcoming Bears season I can remember. I'm struggling to find something exciting about this team aside from the coaching schemes changing. Now with Kevin White going to likely be out for at least another week and Goldman always being dehydrated is this team going to be watchable?

Why do you keep harping on this Goldman thing?

I haven't heard anything since he had to come out of that one practice. Reports yesterday were that he's looking great and disruptive.

I think the White thing will end up being no big deal but I'm not totally unconcerned about it. Nevertheless, I'm really curious/excited to see the new defense and what type of impact that coaching upgrade will have.

I'm also interested to see what Gase does with this offense. There's a lot of talent still. Replace Marshall with (obviously questionable at the moment) White and throw in Royal and this is otherwise the same offense that people were talking about being loaded with talent last year.

That regular season PUP thing for White better be pure speculation by Rapoport. I have a hard time seeing why he'd need an additional 4+ weeks after running begins.

PUP would mean he can't practice or play during the first 6 games, which means no practice until the bye week and no playing until Week 8 against the Vikings. November freaking 1st.

Wasn't Goldman also pulled in OTAs for Dehydration? What reports did you read saying he was great and disruptive? I thought he was yanked twice so far this training camp?

I have no idea because I don't pay attention to OTAs (especially when the Cubs are good).

Here's one I technically am not supposed to post from the bear report

-On one snap today, the offense tried to run a trap block on NT Eddie Goldman. RG Kyle Long cross-blocked with Montgomery, yet Goldman was too quick and was in the backfield before Long could reach him.

Based on his play since the pads went on, it’s safe to say Goldman is going to have a substantial impact for Chicago’s run defense this season.

I've heard very little about Goldman. This is the only non-dehydration related tweet I could find.

A blogger who only has 3500 followers? What is the Bear Report?

A pay only Bears news site/blog on scout.com that covers the team better than just about anywhere else. Especially in TC.

If anyone's interested in signing up for the Bear Report, just saw this pop up. I signed up under a similar offer back in the winter when I wanted to follow all the front office/coaching stuff. It's a pretty solid deal and the training camp coverage alone is worth it, IMO. I think Raisin is/was a member so he might vouch too.

so they charge $10/month normally?

That is absurd.

Yeah. But it's one of those things where I don't think anyone actually pays that rate. Like satellite radio.

Per Rotoworld:

The Chicago Tribune reports the Bears are "optimistic" Kevin White (shin splints) will be ready for Week 1.

White is "symptom free" after dealing with shin splints in the offseason, but the Bears want him to work back slowly so the problem doesn't reoccur. He will resume running next week. White's rehab could progress quickly if next week goes well. Aug 6 - 5:16 PM

Switch Adam Gase with Aaron Kromer, Mike Tice, Mike Martz, etc

Bad, Bad, Bad, etc

It all works when the team is not losing.

truth be told, when those martz teams got rolling, those were the best cutler era teams. it just sucks that it took martz so long to adjust both years.

the offense worked under Martz and Kromer

yeah, they had a good offensive season under trestman. i was speaking to the team itself, though. the 2010 team was pretty good, and the 2011 team was looking like it was about to go on a dominant run and was destroying some pretty good teams when cutler went down. stupid johnny knox.

FWIW, I'm not really concerned about White. Wasn't a huge fan of the pick at 7, but he'll be fine. We saw Beckham miss camp and the first 4 weeks and lead the league in yards per game. We saw Jeffery miss most of the first half of his rookie year, have a solid 2nd half and really take off in his 2nd year. I think with Jeffery, Royal, Forte, and Bennett; White doesn't have to have a big year for the offense to be successful. Even if he's 100% healthy, there's still a chance he's 5th in terms of receiving options on this team.

Yep, with significantly less talent than this year's offense so I'm looking forward to this season if nothing else. Can Jay audible out of a bad play under Gase?

What's the status of Houston and Young?

Cutler was like 12-1 during one stretch between 2011-2012. This coming off the NFC Championship game, too.
