We can only hope that:

1 - the Cubs make the wild card game

2- the Cubs play the Mets in that game

3 - we can bet the Cubs will win by 1 or 2 runs!

Yes, PLEASE do.

Why does a good Cubs team encourage a bunch of sad sacks to join message boards?

To be 100% clear, anyone is welcome to post at NSBB.

However, that does not mean that anyone is welcome to post whatever they want. NSBB was created years ago in response to low quality conversations that happened in other Cubs forums, so the people who congregate here have the expectation of thoughtful discussion. In general, it's a good idea to stop and think if what you're saying is noteworthy and/or something other people would be interested in reading/hearing. I start posts and give up on them all the time with this in mind.

This could/should also apply to those "really baseball-savy" posters who think they need to negatively comment on, what they consider, dumb posts. This isn't aimed at you TT. But why open a thread if it's started by someone you don't have much "baseball respect" for. Wouldn't it just be easier to skip the thread entirely??

So basically what your saying is that although there is clearly no "Posting Guidelines" listed on the site that there is this unspoken rule about what is deemed acceptable and unacceptable content? I don't see a sticky anywhere saying "READ THIS BEFORE POSTING".

I also find it very ridiculous that it's a taboo to start new topics.. I mean isn't that the point of the forum? I'm sorry the Cubs owning the mets doesn't really have anything to do with Kyle Schwarber, very little to do with Starlin Castro, so why wouldn't I start a thread if I would like to address the Cubs being 5-0 against the Mets this year? Or a thread to discuss Schwarbers trade value? Or the 2 spot in the lineup? Those are all different TOPICS, therefore I started a new TOPIC.

I think we have several people on this message board who think they are way more intelligent than they really are and do really professional things like set standards on recreational message boards. Keep up the hard work guys!! You'll be there in no time!

yea Im just sayin, redirect people to existing threads in a nice way, dont be such elitists about it. I'm sorry but what TT said is kind of unreasonable and a little narcissistic. Not every post is going to be some expert dissertation on some obscure statistic. If you dont like a thread title, then dont click it. Dont click it and then complain about it inside the thread. Some people are new and dont understand the rules. NICELY direct them towards better practices, dont shame them in their own post. Just my two cents. This has been a big problem with this forum for a long time. Theres a group of specific people that [expletive] all over any post that doesnt fit their criteria, and its silly. /vent Edited by DiamondMind

Yea, I'm sorry but I completely agree with this. If a thread isnt popular it will die its own natural death, no reason to come into the thread and say how stupid it is.

Agreed. I'm relatively new here and I feel like my baseball knowledge is definitely above average but it's not as good as some of you, but the one thing I've noticed is that there's a handful of people who post who will jump at any opportunity they can to be a dick.. It's like hey, buddy..this isn't college initiation or high school football practice.. If you don't want to acknowledge what I'm saying, scroll on by.

Counterpoint: It's just as ridiculous to venture into a long established community and tell the membership that they aren't as smart as they think, or complain about how it manages itself after being a member for less than 2 weeks.

Discuss.

I just love that a person that joined the forum in 2006 made this comment to a person who joined the forum during spring training this season.

Dude. Really? There's some specific time you need to be a member before you can have an intelligent thought? Come on.

You aren't as smart as you think. (Neither am I.)
