CUBS are 14-3 (.824) when they score in the first inning.... 25-31 (.446) when they don't

Go CUBS !!

What is the Cubs' record when Rizzo takes 25 steps to reach the batter's box versus when he takes 27?

I guarantee it's better than the CUBS record when guido911 makes one too many smart-ass trolling comments and gets his sorry ass banned from NSBB.

hell yes

Another inning, another RISP stranded.

At some point the FO will try to do add some offensive help...right?

I kind of doubt they'll add anything more than a bench type. Castro's been awful, but I'm assuming they'll give him time to turn it around until Baez returns. Schwarber will be up on August to play some LF. No room for a big addition unless someone gets hurt.

I don't really see them taking Castro, Fowler, or Soler out of the lineup.

I'd much rather they make a move to get a solid bat for LF. Coghlan's been good, but go for someone who isn't a platoon player and can provided more everyday value and impact. Combine that with Soler coming back and now the bench is upgraded with Coghlan and Denorfria available off of it more often. If they really are determined to have Schwarber stick at catcher I'd rather just keep him down and focused on playing at that spot than sidetracking him with a stint in LF.

A Coghlan/Denorfia platoon is pretty good. Finding someone clearly better than that would be a) difficult and b) really expensive. I dunno, I think we're kind of "stuck" with what we have, offensively. Hope Castro, Soler, and Fowler turn it around. Also, Schwarber wouldn't do any catching in September anyway, so missing half a month of reps in August at catcher to move to LF probably isn't a big deal.

Soler should be back around next weekend

Is he better offensively right now than Denorfia or Coghlan?

Obviously the expectation is he will be, so any idea of curtailing his playing time for them would be ridiculous. They need him to start hitting towards his potential, and sitting him for guys like that isn't going to help in that regard. I mean, they're both just Band-Aids at best; the Cubs need an impact bat and if Soler can break out again he is that bat.

"hell yes" what? Some guy gets his feewings hurt because I call out some stupid stat about not scoring in the first inning? Here's a thought. Play the first inning. If the Cubs don't score. Call the game. There.

No one fucks with Fred.

Also, Fred is too powerful to need to bother telling your mommy.

I know that's a joke, but 2011 begs to differ. Trading away Rasmus changed that year completely.

IIRC, rasmus is/was a piece of [expletive] in the clubhouse and demanded a trade that year.

I don't think it would be that difficult; the Cub have a lot of assets and there's a decent selection of players likely to be available. I'm optimistic about Soler stepping it up, but Castro has shown little ability or willingness to make serious adjustments midseason. Fowler's ultimately fine for what he is and his optimum performance isn't that far off from what he's been doing. I'd want them to go out and get someone for LF who would be here this year and ideally going forward instead of just hoping for the best from a platoon.

I think that's his point?

That or he's still upset that the cardinals had to suffer the indignity of winning the WS as a wild card.

Just from watching games, Castro has seemed more patient at the plate, but he's been a little too patient in letting perfectly hittable pitches pass him by. He hasn't yet struck the balance between being patient and waiting for your pitch and patience for patience's sake.

You don't get to talk [expletive] to Kyle.

Only we have that right.

Wood's unavailable and Jaxon pitched two innings last night. No idea how we'd cover at least 8 innings if Hammel can't go. Just hope that he can, I guess.

Zobrist. He allows us to get Castro out of the lineup and not make him a full time player but also play LF/RF on other days and helps strengthen the bench/add versatility.

Ross will throw 5 shutout innings

Seriously though, why did we get a rush of troll Cardinals fans? Some 13 year olds from GRB get a wild hair up their ass and come over here to tell us they fucked our moms or something and report back?

Eh; too old and the recent injury history makes me not a fan. Plus it seems like they'll be bringing Baez up as soon as they can. I'm still not all that optimistic about him, but it sure seems like he's who the organization is banking on replacing Castro.
