Reasons Schwarber could be treated different than Bryant

- Despite his similar/slightly better numbers, Schwarber is not as sure-fire a prospect as Bryant. As such, his 7th season isn't as valuable or worth sacrificing for, especially if he's going to play a significant amount of catcher, which could materially alter his career trajectory.

- Schwarber is not a Boras client and therefore a greater than 0% chance of signing a pre-FA extension.

- Keeping Bryant for an extra year involved not calling him up in 2014(a lost season) and ~10 games in 2015(a minimal downgrade). Keeping Schwarber for an extra year involves not calling him up for another ~120 MLB games, all of which appear to be important for making the playoffs. A much different calculation.

Very well put. If he's ready I want him up ASAP.

Calling Schwarber up now also does not mean keeping him up forever. If they are serious about the catcher thing, he's going to need to go back down and keep working on it. Or, if the primary reason he is catching is because he wants to catch and more or less is refusing to switch to OF, then giving him a taste of the majors now could go a long way toward convincing him the switch is the way to go, without forcing the switch upon him.

Clay Davenport's Davenport Translation pegs Kyle Schwarber for a .329 EqA. Right between Joc Pederson, Justin Upton, Joey Votto.

just wasted 15 minutes trying to remember the movie quote with a woman just blurting out, "triangulation" right when they figured out there the guy was and I got nowhere.

The article on ESPN today about Schwarber said he will play wherever they want him, but he does not expect to get promoted

So is no one coming up to do today?

Edit: Montero DHing as its Lester/Ross day.

Yep, and with only one more DH game in the next week, it seems unlikely anything happens immediately. Maybe next week when there's 5 straight DH games starting Wednesday.
