A fun little trivia game in the future is going to be guessing which number is his BAC or his MLB AVG

LOL. I'm obviously not saying his girlfriend is at fault...

Oh, cool!

but .287 is insanely drunk. She should have known better than to get into that car.

Oh.

Oh.

That's the post you are choosing to be offended by out of all of those?

it's like in Vanilla Sky when Tom Cruise gets in the car with crazy Cameron Diaz and you start yelling at the screen, this isn't gonna end well...

spoiler alert btw

I'm just amused you toss out the caveat of "obviously I'm not saying his girlfriend is at fault" before immediately saying how you think the girlfriend is at fault for what happened to her.

Is there ever a situation where someone says "I'm not *BLANK*, but..." and it doesn't end ridiculously?

I'm not saying she's at fault. He's completely at fault for her death. What I am saying is, getting into a car with an obviously drunk person was probably an unwise decision. The two thoughts are not mutually exclusive.

That is easy to say when you aren't the girlfriend of a professional athlete that spends over half the year in a different country and you know is probably going to leave you for somebody but you really don't want him to leave you and are desperate to make him happy as a result.

I don't understand. Are you saying the difficulty of her situation means it wasn't a poor decision?

Ultimately it was a "poor decision" for her to date Taveras in the first place; you see how this is a pointless exercise, right?

Let's just go back to making fun of the dickbag driving the car.

Well I guess if we're going to play that game, let's blame the real culprit here, Taveras' mom, for giving birth to that monster in the first place.

STOP VICTIM SHAMING POOR OSCAR, HE DIDN'T ASK TO BE BORN!

Aren't there places where you can get in trouble for drunkenly getting into a car with a drunk driver too?

I seem to remember this happening with a football player a few years back.

The important thing is we got to make someone feel bad for introducing nuance to the conversation.
