Kevin Encarnacion - who was in that nasty accident a couple of offseasons ago in the Dominican - was just bumped up to South Bend. I read somewhere that he had to give up switch hitting because of injuries stemming from the accident.

 

That should end any chance Eloy Jimenez had of making it to South Bend before September.

almora is 2-2 with a home run and a walk. his overall numbers are pedestrian, but his walk rate is up from last year (though in fairness, it would be hard to walk much less than last year) and his strikeout rate is down, so he seems to be showing improvement.
