Huh?

Didn't Callaspo veto a trade to LA allegedly earlier?

He did but they apparently kept talking and now he's cool with the trade or something

this seems odd given that callaspo had a grand total of -0.9 fWAR in 2013-14 whereas uribe had 8.6 fWAR during that span. they've both been garbage this year, though, but uribe seems like the more astute buy low candidate.

Yeah, I guess Callaspo is younger (still 32) and maybe they feel Uribe is just done at 36-37 and Callaspo provides a little more defensive flexibility. That's all I got.

i'm also trying to figure out what the braves' angle is here. according to reports, they're giving up 3 minor leaguers, and i would assume they're giving up the better minor leaguers since uribe is better than callaspo. are they trying to contend for a wild card spot this season? hoping that uribe turns it around in the next 2 months so they can flip him at the deadline?

but if the minor leaguers in this deal are pretty non-descript, then the deal makes plenty of sense for them, simply because they're acquiring the more valuable asset in exchange for peanuts.

I figured Callaspo was getting cut by the Dodgers and they're doing it for whatever arms they're getting back.

Now if they just trade Justin Turner my fantasy team will be happy.

I misread that as "Urias" and went into full WTF mode.

What was the point of this trade?

Sounded like Uribe and his agent were bugging Friedman about wanting to play full time.

I guess Withrow could conceivably come back and be solid, but this looks to be about as inconsequential of a 6 player deal as it could be.
