It looks like the defense let Edwards down. He struck out the side in his first inning, then went BB, Flyout, error, 1B, BB, FC before being removed. Not as bad as the overall line makes it look.

Still, troubling start to the year for him.

he had his highest walk rate and his lowest k rate of his career while at tennessee last year, and he's been bad to start this season. when stuff like that coincides with arm trouble, i can't help but fear that more bad things are coming.

Next year I'm just doing an all hitter top 30 prospects.

iowa's roster is going to be pretty dull now, although i guess it will be worth seeing if alcantara and baez (when he's back from bereavement leave) can get their offensive games back together, and if szczur's improvement in spring training was more than a mirage.

@billazbbphotog: Dallas Beeler looked sharp in 5 IP for #Cubs extended team - FB was up to 95. For Giants, Kevin Correia had command issues. Advantage Beeler

I've got to assume that was a 4-seamer at 95 ... if that's his 2-seamer ... damn ... but gotta think that's his 4-seamer. Still think Beeler could at least make an intriguing bullpen groundball middle relief option if he can't hang on as a 5th starter type.

I do wonder how the role adjustment affects his process. I forgot who it was a couple years ago ... (want to say Jay Jackson or Andrew Cashner but not certain) ... that had a hard time adjusting from rotation to getting prepped in the pen. Obviously, that's an "excuse", but I do wonder.

LOL. What the hell are they going to do if Alcantara and Baez tear the cover off the ball in AAA? The Cubs basically had 2 top 25 prospects fail (briefly w/ SSS), and replace them with 2 top 5 guys. Hahahaha.
