Do you guys think his trade value would be higher to a AL team since he can DH/C and clutch pinch hit?

If so what teams do you think could be interested?

No, because any AL team is going to want the strongest non-position bat possible at DH. His OPS last year was .685. The only reason that plays in MLB at all is because he's a catcher (a traditionally difficult defensive position to get good offense from).

Castillo's value would go up significantly if MLB would just do the right thing and adopt robot umps for balls and strikes.

of course at that point, montero, who we actually owe money to, would lose value

I may be in the minority but I kinda hope the Cubs keep him. He looks like our best hitting catcher. Ross seems like a black hole offensively.

As much as I like Beef, he is definitely the odd man out here. Let's just hope he keeps hitting to raise his value.

Don't you think that would degrade the offense? My concern is it would.

yes, Welington is a better offensive player than Ross. However, the team clearly feels that Ross is a better overall player.

Personally, I don't agree. But Theo isn't calling me for my opinion.

Castillo's only started 4 of 15 games, and at least 3 if not all 4 were against LHP, who Ross hits pretty well. Castillo is the better overall offensive player, but the impact on the offense isn't a significant one. Especially if it means Ross wouldn't be facing RHP as often if his PT becomes more platoon than Lester's caddy.
