You get 24 hours to draft. Total. If you exceed a cumulative 24 hours in your picks, you go on autodraft the rest of the time. You can still manage your queue, but you get autodrafted the rest of your picks.

Thoughts?

not in favor

can I ask why you're not in favor?

This is an overreaction to Adam being slow this year. Seems clear that something is going on with his as he's just not around much. But I don't think it's good to make a change that would penalize a team for bad luck in when their pick comes up.

If a cumulative 24 hours is too strict, perhaps some other number. It just seems like this is dragging on much longer than normal. Adam has been the biggest contributor, but he's not the only one. Chuck is up over 30 hours at this point, as well.

Maybe it's taking longer than normal. But interest in the league has been down this offseason. There wasn't much trading - almost none that didn't involve you. Very little discussion otherwise. Maybe go to 12 hour periods after the 4th round or something. And make it like the NFL where your pick just gets skipped and you have to slide in whenever you realize you missed your turn.

Or maybe we shouldn't even have a draft. My first pick last year was Hunter Pence, who was great, and the only other pick that wasn't outright terrible was Glen Perkins, who was a mediocre-at-best RP. Still won the league. I'd probably do better with autodraft.

If possible, the idea of lowering the limit to 12 hours after round four sounds decent. I would hate to see us go to autodraft.

On the whole though, I think the draft is going well. We always get frustrated because it drags on.

Thanks Tim for setting up the draft etc...

next year we should give points for players who dive to first base headfirst just a thought

Is there really any need for this other than people are impatient?

I don't think so, which is why I'm not in favor. Though if enough people want to shorten the time after the first 4 rounds or so, that seems fine (though I still think you've got to go 12+ hours to account for time differences).

We still have 3+ rounds to go (plus a few prospect draft rounds) and only 10 days. Seems ridiculous that it would take that long, but who knows.

Well, it would be good to have some time after the draft to make adjustments to rosters, as well. Plus we still have a minor league draft to run, as well.

yeah, I mentioned the prospect draft. Though I don't think that necessarily has to be done by the season opener (ideally it is, but not a huge deal).

I emailed Adam again. It's 530 am in Perth, so there's no rush right now anyway. But maybe if we don't hear from Adam by next time truffle logs on to the draft, we autopick for him? I hate to do that to a guy who's been in the league so long, but he's not been around much at all since the start of 2015 and he isn't responding to my emails (not that everyone has to respond to me, but the combo isn't a good sign). We could try to be democratic about it and get a few votes about what he would do here (Dickey isn't a bad pick for him, but he probably needs a second RP too, so maybe Perkins?). Or just let it run the 24 hours and hope we haven't missed Bob.

The combination of Adam being slower than usual this year right before and after the Australian has slowed us down quite a bit. Maybe next year we should set up the draft order by geography so we have fewer time zone issues. :)

man you spazzes sure do have hard ons to hurry hurry hurry to draft john lackey or whoever. i'm in AZ at ST now which is why I've ruined this draft/your lives. and drafting on my phone barely works. also drafting after crocodile dundee means he goes in the middle of the night (I think...I don't know how hemispheres work).

all this draft stuff is overblown. let's just all agree that abuck forfeits the month of april as punishment for ruining the league and proceed as if none of this stuff ever happened.

Agreed. Tim, as acting commish, I'm sure you can make this happen.

Now that you're back, you're welcome to hang out in the draft room at all hours to make sure it moves along before the season actually starts.
