Fowler just got Arizona'd in the outfield. Bloop double for Miller.

Bryant with three throws so far today. So far so good.

I honestly don't even want him to be encouraging. Just get the switch over with already and make way for Addison.

Screw that. Keep Bryant where his value is highest. We'll need LF for Schwarber, anyway.

Bryant has a much better chance of being a good third baseman than Schwarber being a good catcher.

You are basing this on nothing but college scouting reports.

But nah. And Bryant has a much better chance of being a good outfielder than Schwarber.

Bryant can be a plus LF or a bad 3B, IMO. I'm buying on the real professional coaching turning Schwarber into a viable catcher. At least for now.

If it doesn't, he can be a DH or get traded. But 3B belongs to Russell.

It's the 90's Indians reincarnated, minus roids

i like 90s yankees comparison better but they're similar enough

Could you imagine Bryant on steroids? He'd make Sosa look like Kenny Lofton

I'm basing it on more that just college scouting reports. The current reports are a lot more positive on Bryant the 3B than Scwharber the C.

Welly!

You just can't keep him in aaa to start the season

You sure as heck can. The better he looks, the more important it is.

Considering there is almost nothing current regarding Schwarber as a catcher (besides this below), I'm not sure how you're doing that. There's just guys basically agreeing that he's not a catcher because that's what they felt before the draft. The handful or whatever of games he caught in the minors last year before he got real coaching in instructs isn't much to base anything on either.

On if the Cubs are tempted to move Kyle Schwarber to the outfield because of the bat despite the fact he wants to catch

“We are really fortunate. The three guys we’ve talked about so far with Russell and Bryant and Kyle [schwarber] to have three 70 or 80 makeup-type personalities here and like you said Kyle wants to catch, he’s committed to it. We are extremely committed to him catching. He has made so many strides since we drafted him last year. There was a lot of scouts out here at the Big 12-Pac 12 Tournament in Mesa over the weekend and they actually got to see Kyle catching Jake Arrieta down in the pens and they are like, ‘Oh my gosh, I can’t believe how this guy looks.’ So, obviously if you’re talking about that kind of bat behind the plate, that’s a special player and like I said he’s come a long way. That is the plan going forward with him is just to catch him. He’s an athletic guy in a strong, compact body and he’s going to surprise a lot of people that were naysayers in terms of his ability to catch. He’s going to go out and I think do a really good job behind the plate for us this year.”

Kyle Schwarber has apparently played his way into a full-time catching position while working with Tim Cossins in fall instructs. During his meeting with season ticket holders Friday afternoon, Theo Epstein said Schwarber “is refining his catching game down in Arizona in instruction league right now.” Epstein said that not only is Schwarber “barreling every ball” but he looked “really good behind the plate.”

Kyle Schwarber is “well on his way to start next season as a full-time catcher, whether it’s High-A or Double-A.”

I'm not sure I've seen anything that positive on Bryant at 3B even from the Cubs themselves, aside from the lunacy that was that one BA report saying he looked great there. It may not be fair but every time I've seen Bryant at 3B, whether it be AFL, ST last year, ST this year, he has looked bad.

And there's the whole thing that we have a guy who is definitely going to be much better at it who is almost as major league ready as Bryant, which is the main thing that matters.
