Castillo and Edwards?

Ha! Well done.

Ha, I think that would be close to enough though. I'd be fine with any 2 out of Castillo, Hendricks, Edwards, PJ, Vogelbach, Underwood, Tseng, Black, or whoever else they like that falls into like mid teens-mid 20's for us for him with one of the others above mentioned. I think I'd be fine including Almora in a deal for him too.

oWAR includes everything except for defensive rating

Wait, let's let Jersey weigh in

It's like definitions and stuff

Listen you child porn advocating sociopath, did I offend you somehow?

i thought it was just statutory rape advocating

I think it's in the book thread.

Oh and insert generic David/RAM joke I guess.

Ender Inciarte of the DBacks could be an interesting return for Castillo. If you believe he really is the elite defender he showed last year, he's not all that different from Leonys Martin, and I'd imagine Castillo alone could get it done considering AZ is in dire need of a catcher and has other outfield options.

Certainly a possibility, but you'd think that if Castillo to Arizona was all that likely that it would've gone down with the Montero trade. Unless Stewart really wanted to see what was out there and/or Theo/Jed were risk averse to need Ross in the fold before trading Castillo, neither of which seem overwhelmingly likely.

I do like Inciarte quite a bit though.

Seth Smith for Maurer is done. Mariners have a nice platoon with him and Ruggiano

Damn - that was a guy I really wanted. He would have been a huge upgrade for us.

Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports that the Orioles believe Colby Rasmus "would accept a one-year deal in the $5-8 million range."

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman confirms that Rasmus may be willing to take a one-year deal in order to rebuild his value following a down 2014 campaign. Rasmus is just 29 and is a year removed from a .276/.338/.501 slash line, so he'd be a nice gamble on a one-year pact. The Orioles have also been connected to Norichika Aoki and Marlon Byrd in their search for a bat.

Normally, Edwards or Almora plus Castillo would be a fair package, judging by what TT's posted report says they' should get. But who knows how many teams are willing to make similar offers. Seeing as it's no secret that we're currently not on the best of terms with the Rays, they won't be doing us any favors. This being said, if they have an in basket full of similar packages, ours likely remains toward the bottom.

I'm not saying we go crazy here, but we'd have to add something special to our package. My thinking is that it would take 1 of Edwards/Almora, Castillo, and one more from the above group, or at least something else of value. Vogelbach would be a perfect match. He's been a trade chip since he was drafted, and will be Rule 5 eligible next winter.

I don't see much use for Rasmus, especially on a 1 year deal. Not that I'm overly interested in him on a multi-year deal, but all the less interested with no further control if he did manage to get fixed(I'm skeptical).

Besides a much-needed bat for a year and an extra draft pick?

Rasmus doesn't give you either of those things with any level of certainty. Pretty much the only thing you can bank on with Rasmus is a pretty high IsoP, everything else(AVG, walk rate, defense, etc) is either variable or he doesn't provide value with it. I don't see much benefit in adding an offensive wild card of that magnitude, especially on a one year deal. Not when there's more certain production or longer term solutions(or both) available on the market still.
