This Jackets vs. Islanders season finale has been extremely entertaining. CBJ come back from 3-1 and 4-3 (scored tying goal about 5 seconds after pulling the goalie) and the teams combined for 80 SOG in regulation. About to hit OT

Has a team ever finished the season 12-0-1 and missed the playoffs?

Probably not. They are in a great position for next year.

On another note, couldn't be happier Boston missed the playoffs. They have quickly become my least favorite team after the Wings joined their division.

A little late, but attended the Caps-Bruins game Wednesday night. Was my first ever NHL game in-person. Lot of fun. Significantly better than regular season NBA games, despite my lack of rooting interest.

Someone on reddit claimed that the Habs-Sens game last night was better than the Hawks-Preds one. Watching the highlights has determined that was a lie.

Wut?

I watched 0% of that game(No thanks to Uverse, who doesn't carry NHL network) but whoever said that must be a homer to one of those teams.

what, that their 1 in 5 chance of winning the lottery didn't pan out? do you know how probabilities work?

if there was a result that the nhl didn't want, it was probably to have a supposed one-in-10-year superstar to end up in edmonton. the two guys from this draft who everyone thinks will end up as superstars will end up in edmonton and buffalo, haha.

I like seeing teams who purposely tank for the worst record not get the #1 pick

The Ottawa and Calgary crowds have been insane. On TV, the UC sounded like a morgue most of the time. Pick it up, people! In fairness, 7 years of playoffs and 2 cups allow you the ability to not treat a first round game like it's actually that important.

Just watched the extended highlights of that Calgary game last night. Dammit I hate Vancouver. Burrows and Bieksa are bitches.

To be fair, the Hawks success has priced out many the real fans at least in the 100 level. It reminds me of the 90's Bulls.

I feel the same, but a part of me wants to see them make the WCF against the Hawks so they can crush their dreams again.

Agreed. Also, lots of people saving their money up for the WCF/SCF if it goes that far. UC was still awesome during the Kings series last year, so I'm not worried. Just interesting to see it play out that way with the Hawks just like it did with the Bulls and most other teams that have sustained runs of success.

You don't think Edmonton was tanking too? Edmonton winning the lottery is great because it means that McDavid will be a non factor in the Western conference.

SAN JOSE — The San Jose Sharks (@sanjosesharks) and Todd McLellan have mutually agreed to part ways.

In related moves, Assistant Coaches Jim Johnson and Jay Woodcroft, and Video Coordinator Brett Heimlich have been relieved of their duties. Associate Coach Larry Robinson moved into his full-time role of director of player development at the conclusion of the 2014-15 regular season.

“I want to thank Todd and his staff for their years of service to the San Jose Sharks organization,” said Wilson. “Sometimes a change is best for all parties involved but nothing will take away from what Todd and his staff accomplished here over the last seven seasons.”

“San Jose will always hold a special place for me and my family,” said McLellan. “I would like to thank Doug and the Sharks organization for allowing me the opportunity to coach at the National Hockey League level. While we both agree that a change is in the best interest of myself and the team, I’m proud of what we accomplished as an organization.”

McLellan, named head coach of the Sharks on June 12, 2008, leaves as the Sharks franchise leader in wins (311), games coached (540) and points percentage (.637), with an overall record of 311-163-66. In that span, the team captured three Pacific Division titles (2008-09, 2009-10, 2010-11) and one Presidents’ Trophy (2008-09).

During his tenure, the Sharks made seven appearances in the Stanley Cup Playoffs, including two appearances in the Conference Final (2010, 2011) and played in 11 playoff rounds, with an overall record of 30-32.

Don't be surprised if McLellan winds up in Toronto. San Jose was a possession juggernaut for years under his watch, appealing to the analytics-inclined front office. Apparently Shanahan loved McLellan when they were together in Detroit, when McLellan was in charge of the power play that featured Shanny.

Heard a little NHL Radio in the car this afternoon, they were saying there is already speculation that he'll end up in Edmonton.

For the 3rd game in a row the Jets enter the 3rd with a lead and lose.

The Blues are losing their minds. A talented team, with a coach who wears them out in the regular season, and then turns to thuggery when things start going the other way in a series.
