Several counties in central Minnesota have the Oregon Ducks anywhere from 1-3. Any guesses as to why? (A real question, I have no idea).

Same reason there are Duke basketball fans there I would imagine. Nationally relevant team that's on prime time TV with flashy uniforms.

Duke has flashy uniforms?

Duke is an historical powerhouse, and conservative white boy mecca.

Oregon is all flashy and well marketed by some of the best marketing people in the world, Nike. It's definitely uniform related but not Duke basketball related.

Sorry, yeah that was worded poorly. Nationally relevant, on TV all the time, AND Oregon has flashy uniforms which appeals to a lot of people.

Oklahoma State football isn't even the favorite team in their own zip code.

Edit: This has since changed.

I'm just gonna leave this here, from an ESPN Insider article on who will replace Hoke.

As for Harbaugh, most in the coaching world anticipate him staying in San Francisco or possibly taking another NFL job. But if he does leave for a college gig, those close to Harbaugh told an ESPN colleague that it would be for Kansas. Yes, Kansas.

The last time the KU job was open, Harbaugh strongly considered leaving Stanford for Lawrence. So some believe the embattled Niners coach would again kick it around.

Harbaugh’s wife is from Kansas City and, evidently, the man has great affinity for the Sunflower State.

"He's just crazy enough to do it," a Harbaugh confidant told Seth Wickersham, who wrote adefinitive profile of Harbaugh for ESPN The Magazine.

Why not Michigan? I'm told that Harbaugh is just too maniacal, given the current state of things and the prideful way that the school's administration postures. UM administration isn't wont to "sell out" for a winner. Miles strikes a balance.

Never gonna happen, but it's fun to dream.

I have to question the accuracy of that map. A&M has long had a bigger fan base in Houston and that was before the last couple years.

most of those A&M fans are probably women hot after coach kingsbury

In the end, the only thing that matters is what happens on the field. A&M passed the Longhorns there a couple years ago and that won't be changing anytime soon. So they can claim whatever they want on a map of it makes them feel better.

Who is 'they', exactly? This is a map of Facebook people's fandoms.

i cant remember, was BYU the team we were worried about [expletive] up the playoff? because utah state is up 18 in the 4th on them.

Yes. Also Taysom Hill broke his leg, so that'll do it for them.

Really think that Dak Prescott outplays Kenny Hill. Mississippi schools go 2-0 in the SEC today, Tenn beats Florida, and LSU's Harris has a coming out party at QB and they win vs Auburn.

Ryne Ween just lost his shirt

I did not bet on that game. I'm just happy they lost. If you watched it you heard the arguments for BYU to be in the playoff from the espn crew doing the game.

The espn crew who are paid to hype the games they broadcast?

The organization that wields by far the most influence over the selection process? The organization that owns the rights to the college playoff broadcasts for the next 15 years?

Just for fun, let's say that JT Barrett has a great year at OSU and leads the Buckeyes to the B1G title game, wins a big bowl game, whatever. What happens with Braxton Miller? Do you bench Barrett next year? Or does Miller, who will have graduated, become a "free agent", as he'll be able to transfer schools without sitting out a year?

I'm going to be serious and fair when I ask this.

What have Texas A & M and Mississippi State done to deserve their rankings?

Same thing LSU has done.

A&M clocked S. Carolina on the road before people realized they weren't that great (still a good win though), and Miss State clocked LSU on the road. There are lots of schools you could ask this question of before you could ask it of those two (including ND, to be frank).

aTm doesn't deserve to be ranked that high, IMO. Mississippi State probably isn't as good as their ranking, but at this point in the season it's hard to quibble with it. If we're questioning SEC ranks, a better starting point is Ole Miss and Georgia.
