When asked about payroll level next year, he said something about "if you look back a couple of years ago with regards to payroll" and then mentioned he expected a big jump when new revenue streams are in place.

Someone correct me if I got information wrong, I'm half listening while I'm working.

Keeps talking about the TV deal coming down the line. Mentioned that the TV deal will be necessary to keep all this talent down the line.

Yeah. Says he's extremely bullish on it and even moreso than he had been now that he sees the response to the young talent.

I got a call right when this was supposed to start so I missed a lot of it.

Sending Schwarber to instructional league to have him focus on catching.

At this point, might as well. So many other bats. No crazy rush.

And when are they expected to be in place?

That didn't seem like a question worth asking.

Well, signage will be in place next year. Who knows how much of that would go to it, though...

He sounded really high on the TV deal but I got in late so I don't know if he was just talking about the 2019 one or if he was addressing the 2015+ slate as well.

Top of the rotation? Arrieta and mentioned Neil Rameriz as possible guys already here.

Schwarber-Provides balance with LH power. Has good plate discipline and can work the count. Sounds like they want him to catch and learn alot in AZ League. Theo sounded really pumped about him.

He said Hendricks (as a member of a winning rotation).

Didn't hear any mention of Ramirez, but maybe I missed it. I'd be surprised if he said that, though.

He came across as 2015 could still be a rebuilding year. Players will be coming up and still will not overpay for older pitching.

Len says Starlin has "terrible habit". Do you "take the good with the bad"? He "needs to set a better example". With Castro, Baez and Addison Russell coming---"Somebody will have to be moved".

"In a stable place payroll wise"

Basically said that the payroll will increase when the TV deal happens.

What's the read here? Stable as in embarrassing 2014 85M payroll stable, or stable as in we held back money this year embarrassing 100M payroll stable?

I was under the impression money from the signs was going back into the renovations

What Len says:

@LenKasper

Btw, acc to FanGraphs, Starlin Castro's $ value is $50.4M for career to date & $13.9M this yr. His actual salary is $5M. Perspective.

Yeah, I need to hear the freaking interview to get all of the context and hear how he said things. What does the couple years ago comment even mean?

The payroll thing is a little discouraging to me.

That is the reasoning given to justify them initially, but it's also been considered one of the untapped revenue streams. I'm not really sure how that will all be allocated, though.

Good question. If its the former that's obviously very disappointing but at least we can count on spending from Soriano's contract coming off the books?
