Castro will be back tomorrow too.

Lineup guess tomorrow?

Coughlan RF

Baez 2B

Rizzo 1B

Soler LF

Castro SS

Alcantara CF

Valbuena 3B

Castillo C

Turner P

Nah, they won't break Soler in at cleanup. Castro 4th.

And Soler/Coghlan would definitely switch positions.

Might be a dumb question but how much of RF has Soler played?

He was there tonight before he got pulled and I'm fairly certain he's played there almost every game this year when he hasn't DH'd.

Castro is back from bereavement leave too. That means five position players in the lineup that I actually give a [expletive] about, which has to be the highest number since at least 2008.

Really? I've cared about more than that for about three weeks now. Not like I am enamored with Valbuena, Coghlan, Castillo, and Ruggiano, but I certainly want them to do well and think any/all of them can have an impact in the future.

I guess I don't see most of them as significant contributors to the future. Maybe Castillo if for no other reason than the lack of options to replace him, and he's fine in a lineup loaded with other good players.

Agreed. We might just have different definitions of "care about." It's kind of relative. I mean, guys like Joe Mather and Donnie Murphy, I absolutely did not care about. But, I get upset at Coghlan when he misplays a ball in the outfield or Castillo when he strikes out. With what we rolled out in the past two years, I was just so apathetic.

If you can't love Valbuena then you don't deserve Baez, Bryant, and Soler.

I appreciate Valbuena for what he is (cost controlled, patient hitter, versatile), but it's not like I'm going to stop what I'm doing to see what Luis Valbuena does when he's up to bat. I mean, the dude has the same fWAR this season as Robinson Chirinos.

fWAR has yet to figure out a way to properly weigh awesome bat flips

I like the batflips. I just prefer they didn't precede flyouts that don't come close to reaching the warning track so often. Sammy's hop was great because you knew he got one when he did it. I can't get excited about Valbuena's batflip because so many end up as 300-ft flyouts.

i mean

it's not like he only does them when he thinks it's a hr. he does them for anything. line drives. fly balls. grounders. that's why it's awesome. baseball needs more batflips.

You can see CF radar gun readings in this video:

Looks like his fastball was 91-95, I saw 92-93 most often.

Gleyber Torres promoted to Boise.

holy [expletive] isn't he like 17 or something?

Yep. He's going to be at Kane County next season at age 18. For reference, Starlin Castro was in the AZL when he was 18.
