Jeffrey Baez just homered. He missed a HR just foul in a previous plate appearance too.

Russell again! Best prospect in baseball (besides maybe Bryant).

Don't forget Soler and Beaz. ALL the #1 prospect in baseball. They combine like Voltron. They just need a torso and a head.

@andruwgreen: Addison Russell has now homered in each of his last 3 games. The only other Smokies player to do that this year? Kris Bryant (twice)

I know he still counts, but I've stopped counting Baez as a prospect.

He's a prospect for me until it's official. I'm holding on to this current prospect list as long as I possibly can.

It seems possible we could still have the top system in baseball even after Javy(and Alcantara) have graduated.

It would seem likely that we are in the conversation. Two guys in the top 4 or 5 is a great start, plus we still have depth after that.

Who would the other contenders be? All of the Twins top guys are hurt, Pirates have a bunch of pitchers but they're pitchers, so they barely count.

Twins and Astros. Twins are probably the only one I could see as an argument over the Cubs, even without Baez and Alcantara. But, like you said, there's a lot of injuries to their top guys. I would probably still say Cubs are at the top, but a lot depends on how someone views our lower guys like Almora, McKinney, Schwarber, Tseng, Edwards, and Johnson. Not much to argue about at the top of our pile of prospects.

Soler will probably be pretty divisive. He's performed much of the year like a top 10 prospect, but he's got the injuries and a lot of people didn't have him in their midseason top 50.

We wouldn't have the #1 system, but even if you remove the big 4 (Baez, Soler, Bryant, Russell) I bet we'd still have a top 12ish system with just Almora, McKinney, Tseng, Schwarbs, Torres, Jimenez, and the various mess of low level pitching we have.
