Even after a horrendous start Javy is still on over a 30 hr pace this year for a 162 game season.

I wonder how close he can come to 30 as a rookie next year if he were up with the Cubs from opening day all the way through next year.

Russell's combined AA line is now (125 PA) .304/.376/.554/.930, 7 HR, 11/21 BB/K

Nice. It's funny that since joining the Cubs he's turned into Javy 2.0 - 6 homers, 14 K's, 3 BB's in 17 games.

Lets say in some incredibly lucky world we strike gold and Alcantara, Soler, Baez, Bryant, and Russell all become major producers at the MLB level plus continued production out of Rizzo & Castro.

That is just an insane scenario to build a team around, everyone young, home grown and on either rookie or cost effective contracts. That leaves tons of money to throw at starting pitching and the bullpen.

We don't need to spend on the bullpen either. Just sign all these dudes to long-term cost effective contracts, spend the remaining money on starting pitchers, and be a WS contender for the next 10+ years. Even if half these guys are misses, were still in great shape.

Per Twitter, CJ Edwards is back in Mesa. Did I miss something?

He had a rehab outing there on Wednesday. I hadn't seen anything about him being back in Tennessee, and I would've expected more than one rehab outing if only for stamina purposes.

Ah - got crossed up and thought he had pitched for the Smokies on Wednesday. Thanks for clearing that up.

So, his start is going under somewhat under the radar (considering how good he has been), but Zagunis is 1-1 with three walks and two stolen bases tonight.

Only heard the name around here but know nothing about him. What's the cliff notes on him? Does he project to be a big league regular or is that a crap shoot with him?

@BenjaminARoss: Isotopes infielder Erisbel Arruebarrena not happy about being thrown at. A few pitches later he struck out, then shoved Aces' Blake Lalli

@BenjaminARoss Benches cleared, dozens of players involved right behind home plate. Brawl went into the net and pushed net right into first row of crowd

@BenjaminARoss: Really awful sight to see. Arruebarrena is going to be suspended for a long time.

3rd round pick this year from Virginia Tech. Very good speed and athleticism for a catcher, he could play outfield capably if he needed to. He shouldn't need to though, since despite an average arm he should stick at catcher. Offensively his hit tool was the best thing about him prior to the draft. Add it up and you're looking at a best case scenario of something approximating Jason Kendall.

He hasn't shown a ton of pop in Boise thus far, but he's clearly too good for that league, he's up to.330/.475/.468 with a 23/19 BB/K after tonight (120 PA).
