Sounds like having certainty that Cubs can do what they want with park when rooftop contract is up is the real rooftop holdup.

Why in the [expletive] couldn't they??

The same reason they have an agreement with the rooftops in the first place.

On a related note:

@BleacherNation Cubs say Rooftops have said that if there is no agreement & Cubs start reno, Rooftops will challenge entire zoning, not just outfield signs.

Has anyone asked any questions about growing mustaches?

Wesley Wright was just asked if he would consider getting the whole team to grow beards and not cut them until they win a World Series.

I hope you punched that guy in the face.

I'm not there. Actually, it was Cubs.com at fault. I guess this was a Q and A they're running with players. Didn't realize it was online, but I guess it makes multiple fucksticks.

Crane has new 5 year deal, via Levine.

Best news of the Convention

He seemed to have caught most of the [expletive] that should have gone towards Ricketts.

Yeah.

It doesnt seem like that's something we'd ever get the rooftops to concede to. Is that something the city would have to agree to back us on?

Who the hell determines if they have any sort of rights to that view? I can't even remember why the Cubs ended up conceding anything to the RTOs...was it because of their influence on Tunney being an obstacle to getting any sort of bleacher expansion done?

That whole deal went down after they put the screens up to block the roof tops views and they threatened to sue. I guess the Cubs figured 17% of their take was better than nothing.

Yeah, but why were they worried about them suing?

That last part would make more sense (if that 17% is more than the amount of seats they downsized their bleacher expansion by, that is).

Or was the downsizing just because of that whole argument that they didn't want bums living under the overhang if it went out over the sidewalk too far...

Perhaps the rooftop owners were willing to concede on the renovation if the Cubs agreed to extend the agreement with them...and the Cubs want no part of that?

It's been a looooong time, but there was some stupid reason or another why the Cubs had reason to fear losing the case.

I thought it had to do with zoning rules put on the ballpark as part of the whole "Historic" stuff.
