I'm not honestly all that concerned as to what they do with the secondary (although improving on those two morons at safety can't hurt) and am far more concerned with them addressing the pass rush. Get pressure from 4 guys and a lot of things get masked.

Yeah, between the high scoring offense and a hopefully improved pass rush, you can get by with some healthy bodies at safety.

Mundy and Jennings improve the depth at safety, at least. Better them than Steltz and Walters as backups. Hell, they were better than Conte and Wright last year.

 

I'm hoping that, at worst, only one has to start meaningful games between those two and Conte but I do agree with David.

These safeties honestly seem like good signings to me. My impression from the PFF rankings I get peaks at is that your average players are really bunched up and a guy in the 50-70 overall ranking is not necessarily a below average player, especially if they were a full time player- it's just that your average player really doesn't provide that much excess value, only the top guys do. Also doesn't seem that predictive. So better off relying on scouting and scheme fit than PFF rankings.

 

That said both these guys seem stronger on the run, so I'm sure they'll compete for one spot and well still see another S in the draft or FA to compete with Conte.
