what is Sam Bradford's cap hit next year? For some reason, I think he'd thrive in this type of offense. i love Jay, but if the Bears decide to let him go, Bradford might not be a terrible option. We could throw a mid to late rounder at them and buy low.

17 million. He was one of the last 1-1 picks before the CBA reined in rookie salaries.

I wonder how many of these out-of-the-woodwork mccown fanboys think he's the hot, young up and comer -- rather than the 34 year old looking for a final shot after a decade of nfl failure.

I'm guessing quite a few.

Probably the same guys who think Darwin Barney is part of the future core of the Cubs and Brian Bogusevic is a big time prospect when he comes up from Iowa in the middle of September.

Prior to Monday's game somebody on ESPN was talking about how important it was for Brandon Marshall to help his young quarterback in his first start.

Picture 2000 Wilson's all screaming in unison, and then suddenly silenced. That was Chicago sports radio today before I turned it off.

Boers and Bernstein sadly made a proactive announcement and wouldn't let Wilson nation call up and ask for McCown to get another start. They were too busy telling everyone how much the Bears still suck despite this game.

Would you turn Peanut into a safety next year and move Frey to CB?

I'm great with Peanut as a safety. Less enthused about Frey as CB. An early round CB to replace Tillman would be my choice.

They were right to do so. McCown is a wonderfully competent backup (a rarity enough for the Bears in the Cutler era); not a long-term starter.

Yeah. B&B should take it one step further and ban callers from the show entirely.

They hate the callers but Matty looks for the meatballs and puts them on.

Outside of Madduxboy, Quad cities Pat, Bob from Niles, and Mike from Milwaukee I'm fine with going callerless. Ditch WYC and most Friday Fung's too.

Oh of course, and Bernstein loves it. He enjoys screaming over people. But that's just it. Meatball callers can be fun to laugh at, but they aren't even fun to laugh at the way that Dan does it. It's just him screaming and not letting them say more than one or two words before screaming again. I usually listen to something else when it comes to taking callers. I'm sure I miss some occasionally decent radio that way, but I can deal with that.

A little info about me: Quad Cities Pat is my first cousin.

Really? He's a good follow on Twitter.

If Jay has really limited mobility and can't make all the really important throws, sit him. Not a defense you get healthy against. McCown can at least keep you in the game. If this was last year, I'd say play Jay. But what if Jay reinjures himself by trying to play through this? Or tweaks his groin and he isn't close to full strength as a result for the remainder of the season. Will make it hard to properly evaluate Jay and I don't think Emery has his mind made up. Really affects the draft and what you do with Jay, Peanut, and Peppers. Or maybe Jay is out and this is a continuation of Trestman trying to fool the Lions into preparing for Cutler.

I tend to agree with you, except for the "Trestman trying to fool the Lions." Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the playbook pretty much the same with McCown in the game? Maybe fewer shots down the field and getting the ball out quicker is more emphasized, but I can't say that I noticed a huge difference in play calling last Monday and during the Washington game vs. what we've seen with Cutler in there.

I'm guessing the "Cutler plans to start Sunday" stuff came out of potential desperation. The Bears season was over with losses in both these games. I think that the Cutler stuff was put out there pregame Monday so it didn't seem desperate if McCown [expletive] the bed.

I'd probably bet decent money that Cutler sits 1 more week.

Alterraun Verner is a free agent this coming offseason. :)
