Mirotic won't be rookie scale. We'll have to use cap space or MLE/whatever on him.

Yup plus a buyout but I'm not sure if that counts for the cap

Capped at something like 600k. Anything else we pay to the buyout is against cap. Not sure if teams exercise third channels or not though. I'm sure the Russian would.

perkins and like 11 draft picks for noah. You can have this perry jones too.

I was actually thinking about something like that. I think OKC would have to throw in Lamb though... you know, just to even out the money.

Why take the Charlotte pick this year ? Isn't it protected inside the top 10 and Charlotte will be one of the top 10 worst teams?

They look like they have a hard working team this year with a coach that seems to know what he's doing.

Because Rose didn't tear his ACL and should be fine next year (assuming no more injuries which obviously isn't a given), I think this is the best possible thing that could happen to the Bulls if they blow this up and tank. A top 5 pick could give us a player we've been looking for and we'll have the cap room open to get a 3rd player as well. Obviously Rose's health is a major concern and he may never be the same player again but this core was going nowhere and tanking could be the best possible thing that could happen to this team.

Now please axe Paxson.

Even if they trade Deng (which I don't think is a given what with Thibs' enormous man crush on Luol and everything) I don't see them finishing worse than 7th or 8th in the terrible Eastern Conference. (Also, interesting how in both the NHL and NBA the Western Conference is so much better than the Eastern Conference)

They would be worse than 5 of: Toronto, Charlotte, Philly, Detroit, Washington, Boston, Orlando, NYK, Brooklyn, and Milwaukee.

I can see New York and Brooklyn rebounding to be better than they've started. Washington has a chance to be decent. Then there are a bunch of garbage teams that probably aren't much better than Noah/Gibson/Boozer/Butler/etc. + Thibs' defense

They're 6-6 right now. Trade Deng and get Marquis Teague into the starting lineup and play him 35 minutes a night and the Bulls won't win 20. And if Thibodeau is against tanking, fire him.

Chad Ford on the Bulls tanking: http://m.espn.go.com/general/video?vid=10035364&src=desktop

As Ford said, with the quality of the 2014 draft, the Bulls just need a top 5 or 6 pick to get a franchise talent.

There is a rumor going around twitter that a team source said the Bulls have no intention of playing the draft lottery this year, meaning no tanking. Of course its a stupid twitter rumor and even if that was said it could easily be a smokescreen or whatever.

The East is so bad that they couldn't even tank if they wanted to. They will probably end up as a 4 or 5 seed.

Yeah, it seems like half the East already has a headstart on the Bulls and started tanking at the beginning of the season.

I doubt it, I fully expect Luol Deng to be traded in the next few weeks because Reinsdorf won't pay the Luxury Tax for this team.

Statement from Bulls owner money collector Jerry Reinsdorf:

“Like Bulls fans everywhere, I was heartbroken when I heard of Derrick’s injury. We are happy to know that, according to his doctors, his surgery was successful, and in time, Derrick is expected to make a full recovery. Everyone at the Bulls knows firsthand how extremely hard Derrick worked to return to the court this year, and I have no doubt he will do the same with regards to his recovery from this injury. Despite Derrick’s absence, this is still a good team. I know from last year, this team and coaching staff will continue to make our fans proud.”

Would be a good time for Thibs to take a leave of absence (I'd suggest the old "want to spend more time with my family" route but he's a weirdo bachelor 4 lyfe) instead of giving himself a premature heart issue by pushing this team to be above average.

Pretty much any coach would be against tanking.

Sounds like Tony Snell is getting his first career start.

So bring back Vinny Del Negro or Jim Boylan
