Week 2: Vikings (0-1) @ Bears (1-0) Noon CT, Fox/780

So, there was a lot of talk about how hard the Bears schedule looked before the season. After one week, it sure looks a lot easier.

Well, we already won one of the hardest games.

The 2 Packers and 2 Lions games will still be tough. What else?

I was never worried about the Steelers...

Giants, Cowboys, and Eagles look like the most threatening non-division games to me.

I guess that means you assume Pittsburgh, Baltimore and NYG are worse than expected. You may have to consider New Orleans better than originally thought, if they have a defense and can get the offense rolling again. Also, Philly may be more of a threat than some assumed. I just think don't think that week 1 really told us much of anything we didn't already know or assume. And the only two teams with truly bad QBs on the list are Minnesota and Cleveland. Every other team offers a potential threat on offense.

They only face what looks to be one truly awful team, in Cleveland. Other teams get a couple of those jabronis.

It's not so much the difficulty, it's that there are barely any creampuff games they should easily win.

Looks like 3, counting this week, including St. Louis and Cleveland (and maybe Pittsburgh).

However, week 1 is National Jump to Conclusions week, so let's see how things shake out over the next 3 weeks before we make any sweeping judgments about how good teams are.

Well I figure that Vick will be out for the season by the time we play them. And I also have doubts they can keep up that pace for the entire season.

The Saints will be tough. No doubt about that.

I think the Steelers are gonna stink. Jury's still out on Baltimore and NYG.

for you power ranking obsessed weirdos

Why is it so weird that people talk about how they disagree with power rankings? You just expressed how you disapprove of a Dukes comment. Disagreeing with power rankings is hardly different.

I find it very strange that you feel you are so above it. Power rankings are nothing more than an opinion by a sports writer. A large amount of material on a message board such as this one is discussion of sports writer's opinions, and you are in fact a contributor.

I have no idea why you're so worked up about this, but what does the bold even mean?

They very well may wind up stinking, but I think they remain a threat. Big Ben is a tough out and playing at PIT during primetime won't be easy.

I was referring to this:

But according to Jamie Dukes this is the exact same team as it was under Lovie Smith, only with added talent on offense.

I could just as easily ask you why you're so worked up about "power ranking obsessed weirdos". "Worked up" would actually be more applicable to you seeing as you've ranted on this subject before.

I have?

Power rankings are incredibly stupid and totally subjective and a waste of time to argue about (and almost always the laziest journalism you'll ever find). I innocently poked fun at the people who care about them. I'm not mad. But you just got really defensive about it for some reason.

Maybe, and I know it's only been a week. I'm not saying I'm taking any game for granted. I've watched too much football to do that. Just really was pointing out that some of the teams aren't quite as scary as they appeared before.

All true, and I love them.

That's fine. I sort of get why. I used to care.

I get my fix with DVOA now (and Aikman rankings, whenever I manage to find wherever the hell those are at).

I just find it hypocritical to criticize or "poke fun" at people that are talking about power rankings while they are mocking the opinion of a sports writer. Hypocritical behavior annoys me so I thought I'd call you out on it in the hopes that you would stop. That's all.

I think you're misunderstanding how people are using power rankings here.

I think you'll find that most (I will at least) will agree with you that DVOA is an awesome tool to evaluate performance of a team. That's how I use it, that's how most informed NFL fans use it.

Power rankings on the other hand is a way to mock the generalized opinions of so-called NFL experts and pointing out why they are so wrong.

What's weird is, there's no real disagreement here. Just you criticizing those that dare bring up power rankings in any context and me taking offense to that.

You care way too much about this and now I'm just going to make fun of you more to get a rise out of you.

That's probably unnecessary.

Probably.

Yeah. It sucks. Last year we got a lot of those. Maybe we'll get some unexpected ones this year.

That game at Tennessee was so [expletive] fun.

Yeah, I love mine....except I lost weight and it's enormous on me now, and it's Hester.

Perfect time to replace it with a 15 or 6.

I have the regular navy Cutler jersey, and a white Urlacher one that my wife has commandeered as her own. So yeah, 15 is probably one I need.

Jay's not going anywhere, but for some reason I'm scared to buy his jersey until he is re-signed.

My Briggs jersey has lasted me a solid 5 years and I hope it will last at least a couple more before I have to get a new one.

15 is the one I don't expect to see around for very long.
