http://vimeo.com/77383663# - Bryant's 2HR game

Friday, October 18

Hitter of the Day: Kris Bryant, 3B, Cubs (Mesa Solar Sox): 3-5, 3 R, 2B, 2 HR. The second overall pick in the 2013 draft is capable of impressive displays of power, such as the one he put forth on Friday. Bryant is the best power hitter of the bunch of impressive prospects the Cubs sent to the AFL, and it’s showing despite his facing the best competition of his career this fall.

I wonder if Bryant regrets that month time he wasted before signing. The way he was mashing, did he cost himself a promotion with the lost 100 PAs?

Especially since it was a meaningless gesture of Boras grandstanding so he could attempt to justify his commission check on a contract negotiation that really involved very little negotiation

Jesse Rogers on the radio today mentioned that Soler had to go home to deal with some residency issues, he didn't really elaborate on the details.

He also mentioned that scouts in the AFL were down on Soler, specifically that he wasn't motivated after getting his big contract(as if the scouts knew him before), but IMO it seemed a lot like Rogers stretching to create a negative narrative about Soler. He also mentioned his injury, suspension, and the residency issue as obstacles that contributed to "nothing going right".

Haiti, I imagine.

Of course the BA story from a few days ago said he looked unmotivated/slow because he was still out of shape from his injury, all while working extra hours with the coaches. Rogers needs to go back to hockey coverage.

Yeah, Soler going "home" makes no sense and Rogers should really know that.

I'm not sure if Solar wants to, but can't he establish residency in the US on the basis of political asylum? We have very liberal laws when it comes to Cuban immigration (i.e., wet-foot-dry foot).

I'm not sure he still can once he established residency in Haiti (assuming that's where it was based on Raisin's post). He wouldn't have wanted to do that in the first place, obviously, because he'd lose his IFA status.

In fairness, he may not have used the word "home", that bit I was paraphrasing. He seemed to cover that portion of news just fine, but then he spiraled into making this the latest disaster for him in a long line, which was where he lost me.
