That's one of the best games I've ever witnessed. So glad Ole Miss won. Feel for Vandy tonight. Matthews especially. Although it perhaps seemed reckless for him to be out there after banging his head against the ground and then projectile vomiting.

Defense optional in Fresno St-Rutgers.

If I were coach, I could never go for 2 in that situation.

For sure, it's a tough call. I like it though. You're on the road, your defense hasn't stopped Fresno all night and they haven't stopped you either. So you roll the dice with what's been by far your most effective unit.

I guess Clowney is no MJ:

‏@Haney1075 Clowney finally admits he had a stomach virus last night through this morning. Says he ate only a banana & some grapes prior to game.

Is Derek Carr any kind of pro prospect or does the mega bust brother sink him down draft boards? He's got ability.

I've seen him in some mocks late first or somewhere in the second round. I have a tough time figuring out how good a pro prospect most of these spread QBs really are (except for the obvious ones).

Is he even old enough to drink?

jeez vandy has to have the worst looking chicks in the SEC.

Fact. But that is a very high bar that has been set, especially evident when sitting next to the Ole Miss section. They are loaded with talent.

That happens whenever you have a school you actually have to apply to get into.

Great UM/Vandy game last night. I have a lot of faith that Hugh Freeze is the right coach for that job, but there is NO way the Ole Miss QB will be able to run those read-option keepers against the "big boys" in the SEC. There were several goal line situations where I watched Wallace fake the dive play then juke around the OT, sometimes untouched because the LBs bit hard on the fake. Disciplined defenses like Bama, LSU or Georgia will blow Wallace up more than a few times. I love the pace they play, but I question how they will keep Wallace or anyone else on the field in that scheme. Ole Miss wins with pace, speed and scheme. The only problem with that is all over the SEC there are guys who are monsters who can match that speed.

Clowney needs to get in better shape. He gets winded way too quickly.

Their whole D looks terribly conditioned.

Also, very gutless of UNC to not go for the TD on 4th down

Just read the game-time heat index was 104 in South Carolina. (At 6 pm!?!? How do people live in the South?) Got to imagine it felt worse than that on the field. No wonder they looked terribly unconditioned (so did UNC's d-line).

You say that like it's a bad thing.

Love that gif. And it reminds me to be thankful that the camera is never on me during A&M games. I'd hate to see the stupid [expletive] I do whenever we do anything, good or bad.

Don't you live on the edge of the Inland Empire? The SE has some heat+humidity spikes, but it's not as routinely miserably hot as over by you.

By staying indoors as much as possible. I think the weather is one of the lesser factors (albeit still a factor) for obesity in the South. For a decent chunk of the year it's just downright unpleasant to be outdoors and so folks just sit around inside eating or whatnot. When I lived in Colorado, the skinniest state I believe, people were always outside doing something during the spring/summer because the air was so crisp and the temperature so mild.

I think the IE is better. Averages for the hottest month of the year:

Riverside, CA (biggest city in the IE): 95/62 (mean: 79)

Columbia, SC: 93/72 + the humidity (mean: 83)

That said, I also don't know how people live in the desert Southwest or even the IE. I can't stand our summers and falls here and our August average is 88.

As someone who grew up in South Carolina and now lives in the southwest, I will say that SC was way worse because of the humidity. Unfortunately, I have grown accustomed to the weather here, which means I suffer more when I go back to SC. When my family visits, they always enjoy the weather, even if it's considered "hot" by the standards here. Breathing is more difficult in the heavy air in the South, and you pretty much walk around sweaty at all times. I would say the SE gets more than heat and humidity "spikes," unless you're referring to the months of May through September. It can be miserably hot here (as it is right now), but I'd say that's limited pretty much to the months of September and October. Also, around here it generally cools down nicely at night, while in the South it's still sultry, muggy, and 79 degrees at 2 AM.

Good article on Clowney about last night. http://sports.yahoo.com/news/ncaaf--jadeveon-clowney-doesn-t-need-another--hit--to-live-up-to-the-hype-052859726.html

Nate Scheelhaase has got to be the worst QB in recent Big Ten memory. He does literally nothing well.
