So, daytona got rained out i assume?

Its always a safe assumption

Im about 12 time zones away right now and i was thinking game time would be about now, so i was looking for game updates on page 3. Ooops.

I haven't checked in the last two days, but I think that moves Baez into the top 10 in the Southern League in home runs. The league he joined six weeks ago when the season was already three months old.

not quite... tied for 11th.

his slugging percentage is more than 100 points higher than the league leader, though.

dillon maples: 3 ip, 1 h, 0 r, 0 bb, 4 k, 1 hbp.

seems like the switch has really flipped for him. he was walking almost 1 batter per inning at kane county, but in his last 4+ outings he's pitched 23 innings and walked only 2 batters.

If you were ranking the hitters in our organization on current offensive ability, where does Baez rank?

2nd behind Rizzo.

Baez also stole 3rd, because sure why not.

The fun thing is that I don't really see the PCL being THAT much harder than the Southern League. Smarter pitchers probably, but i'd imagine the pure stuff at AA is probably better than AAA.

The MLE calculator (I know) thinks that numbers should go slightly up from Tennessee to Iowa.

Yeah, I think Iowa is where he starts, with a June callup. That said, its going to be very interesting to see what we do positionally with him. If he moves to 3B, is Olt in the majors? Villanueva repeats AA when he doesn't need to? Bryant back in Daytona and Candelario stuck in KC? If he moves to 2B, what are you doing with Alcantara? We've got a logjam, no matter what.

Put him back in KC already.

I think I'm OK leaving him where he is. Let things play out over the winter and spring. If his stuff looks good, start him in Daytona next year.

Javier Baez now has 30 HRs on the season, our shortstops have combined for 31 HRs the last three years. Javier Baez now has 46 HRs over the last two years, our SS's have combined for 48 HRs over the last 7 years and 52 HRs over the last 8.

He gets a playoff run if he stays at Boise.

So much better than our old problems.

Absolutely not. Rizzo's probably at best a .280/.350/.500 guy (though one or two years > that). Baez could easily be a .280/.330/.550 guy. Maybe more if you buy into the newfound walk kool aid. Personally I think Bryant's hitting ability is better than both.

I'd go something like this for pure hitting potential

1. Bryant

2. Baez

3a. Vogelbach

3b. Rizzo

3c. Soler

6. Olt

7. Almora

8. Castro

9. Vitters (I think when it's all said and done he'll be a MLB starter)

10. Alcantara

Although if you include everything my rankings would be:

Baez

Almora

Bryant

Castro

Olt

Solar

Rizzo

Alcantara

Vitters

Vogelbach
