gerardo concepcion: 1.2 ip, 0 h, 1 r, 0 er, 4 bb, 1 k, 3 wp.

=D>

I just tell myself that Jorge Soler required the Cubs to sign Concepcion for unknown reasons or else Soler would take his talents elsewhere

@EricLPauly: Concepion sitting around 86-87 with the fastball. Topped out at 91.

They seriously should consider sending CJ, Pierce, Black to KC to get regular work. The rate of rainouts seem to be increasing every year in Daytona. Plus the FO could see them at KC easily

Thank God that Soler has singlehandedly saved "signing Cubans" from being the FO's kryptonite.

Balaguert looks promising too

I would think, at the very least, all this rain means these guys are likely to see some time playing somewhere in the Fall/Winter leagues, no?

It's a [expletive] joke. They have to spend whatever it takes and buy a team in the Carolina League after next year.

that seems a little extreme.

daytona's been really unlucky too. jupiter (marlins' affiliate) has played 10 more games since the FSL all star break. almsot all of the teams in the league have played at least 5 more games this season.

Balaguert signed under the previous regime.

How likely/possible would it be for the Carolina League to just add new team/organization for the Cubs instead of replacing one with them?

Who would own them? Where would they play?

Those are good questions, I was just spitballing. Certainly I'd think if the Cubs put it out there to the right people that they were taking proposals to move to the Carolina League they could find someone interested in putting a package together for them.

Fredericksburg, VA is trying to build a stadium, but is having problems luring the Hagerstown Suns (So. Atlantic League Class A).

how far along is construction on the dome we were going to build with whatever it costs for a utility infielder?

I know it's meant as a joke, but wouldn't it be worth the investment for the Ricketts to pay for this to be done and gain partial ownership in the process? I know minor league franchises don't exactly rake it in, but a minor league team in Florida that is guaranteed to play every schedule game has to be worth something. Every team that rains out in the immediate vicinity is just more potential consumers.

It's entirely possible that they might want to eventually own and operate a minor league team. The Red Sox own their A+ team in the Carolina League.

But doing it just to avoid a few rainouts each year (and a few more in unusually bad years like this) feels like an overreaction.
