So is Blake Parker a thing or is this some sort of mirage?

He's got a plus fastball and a good slider. The question with him is always going to be command. If he improves in that area there's no reason he can't be a good set-up guy.

I feel we've said this about every pitching prospect in the system.

How long has it been since one of our young players we are counting on in the future did anything?

Rizzo and Castro just might not be any good.

CUBS are 32-3 (.914) when they lead at the end of the 8th inning.... 5-45 (.100) when they don't

Go CUBS !!

Interesting stat...they 17 blown saves as a team (last I checked) so have most of those blown saves occurred prior to the 9th inning?

Yeah, a reliever could conceivably come in in the 3rd inning with a 1-0 lead, give up a run, and get charged with a blown save.

or allow a tying run, then win the game later.

I mean it's great that throwaways like Hairston and Ransom and Schierholtz are raking, but I'd like to see non-filler home runs.

True. But if we're patient with Castro and Rizzo, hopefully the filler can bring back something for nothing at the end of the month. And I'm not so sure I'd lump Schierholtz in with the flotsam.

Also, Hairston is below the Mendoza line.

Hairston's one of those guys that is what he is and has been for long enough that a team looking for cheap, right handed power would probably look past his 2013 stats and more toward his career line. Alone, he doesn't bring back much, but he could sweeten the pot if packaged with one of our more valuable chips.

Rizzo is having an above average season despite things seemingly going as bad as they could be and having pretty crappy BABIP luck.

And he hasn't turned 24 yet. He's a long way from not any good.

Guerrier's wind up reminds me a lot of the Weavers.

Also, did we fix him? 2 days in a row of 1 2 3 innings (essentially, w/o the Barney error).

I guess this whole thing where Castro swings at pitches an inch off the plate really is never going to stop.
