I guess this whole thing where Castro swings at pitches an inch off the plate really is never going to stop.

An inch off the plate is a lot?

I mistyped. An inch above the plate.

I like the 2003 version of the Pirates who are now on the field.. :yahoo:

Did you really need to go that far back?

Not really but that team was especially fun as we clinched the 03 title against them

Personally, I prefer the 08 Pirates that we scored like 8 runs a game off of.

I think this is actually a better team after we traded Marmol & Feldman.

Feldman?

As I've said before, if this team had an average pen, we are squarely in the wild card hunt. It really raises the question as to how far are the Cubs really away from contending? A good pen?

Eh. They play pretty well at home and against bad teams, but they go through some serious offensive droughts a little too often. That said, your point stands - they'd be in the hunt if they had even half as many blown saves.

10 games under and with an average pen, they're a .500 team right in the thick of a playoff spot. I know this team is rebuilding and the goal is much more than just contend for a wild cars spot. That said, that's the reality of this season.

Went 3-3 (should have been 4-2) against two of the best four teams in baseball record-wise.

Yeah, well, if you improve most teams weakest spots they would be better.
