You guys are brutal. They're competing with the 2 most loathsome teams in the NL. Enemy of my enemy and so forth

 

The only other team in the division I don't hate are the Pirates. The rest are all loathsome to varying degrees.

I was under the impression that Martin Perez has seen his stock fall big time?

Day off looks to have been just what the doctor ordered for Castro. A few more weeks of this to get the numbers back to where we hoped they'd be, please.

That's part of the reason you can get him for half a season of Garza. There's obviously a scouting component where you want to be sure you aren't just taking on a guy because he used to be good, but that's the type of player I'd look for with these rental deals. Guys higher in the minors who have maybe fallen out of favor because of some minor performance issues, injury, general front office stupidity, etc. Guys like Perez, Duffy, Skaggs. Get them, get a quality relief prospect to go along with them, and you're doing a really good job to add depth for next year and beyond while balancing out the farm system a bit.

True, I'd love to get Duffy. I felt like he was figuring it out last year before he got hurt. I'm no scout, but man he looked good in person. Hopefully they panic and sell him.

Angels and Baltimore could be in the mix for Garza. Seems like a 1/2 year rental would be in line for any of the three rather than a longer term player.

Baltimore currently very much in the mix despite having the second worst starters era...
