My favorite memories from those playoffs, aside from being at Game 5 were...

- Wood single-handedly winning game 1 of the NLDS

- Sosa's tying HR in game 1 of the NLCS

- The massive blowout in game 2 (including Sosa's HR that landed on or somewhere near the camera shed thing in CF)*

- Crazy ending to game 3 - I don't remember exactly what happened but I remember Doug Glanville and Randall Simon doing stuff and the game ending on Luis Castillo in a run down (do i have that right?)

- Epic Aramis grand slam in game 4

- The moments before Game 6 turned awful - I was already looking up prices for tickets in New York and planning out a road trip.

I don't actually have many fond memories of game 7. I got pretty hammered because I was nervous as [expletive] and, while I remember what happened in the game, it's mostly pretty foggy.

* Not on my list of favorite things - Prior staying in the game as long as he did with like an 8 run lead.

Yeah, Glanville hit the game-winning triple in extras in game 3 and Castillo ended the game by getting caught in a run down.

The Sosa HR is my favorite -- and it's an oft-forgotten one since we ended up losing the game.

In the early 2000's I was just starting to get into baseball seriously, and I became such a little prick at the time. Any time something bad happened I would rage quit and turn off the game or leave the room. Missed the Sosa HR in game 1 and Kerry Wood's in game 7. :x

Can't face Lenny Harris, dude.

Ramirez's grand slam in game 4 was the best.

Yep. I also like Alou's homer in Game 7 - Wood's blast let me believe, but Alou's convinced me that we were gonna win.

even though it ended up meaning nothing, that wood home run is still my favorite cubs moment ever.

Yep.

Says a lot about the franchise that 2 of my favorite Cubs playoff memories (Wood's HR and the Sosa game tying HR) came in losses. I was 1 in 84 and don't really remember anything about the 89 playoffs so I guess those 2 moments go on a list with Gaetti's WC playoff HR (technically regular season but whatever), Wood's double in game 1 vs. ATL, Sosa's HR off the camera well, ARam's Grand Slam and absolutely nothing from 07 and 08.

i was at the aramis grand slam game (and i still have no idea where that home run went) and it actually makes me pretty sad thinking about how amazing the atmosphere was in the tunnels after the game. cubs fans were just standing around high fiving everybody and not leaving. at that point, it seemed like we had clinched a world series berth. like, there was no doubt in any of our minds that they had just won it.

that glanville triple tricked me into thinking he was a great player for like 2 years because i was still a meatball and thought he was clutch. i seem to remember feeling that way about tom goodwin for a while too.

Couple thoughts...

Cant believe that pitch Miguel Cabrera hit out for a 3 run homer in game 7 in the first inning. Extremely low and in fastball that Cabrera just whacks for a about 450 feet. If he doesnt hit that ridiculous homer that changes that whole damn game (even though we did come back I think that really put alot of negativity in the air and messed up Wood).

The other thought was if we would have pulled out game 1 (epic game) its very likely we would have swept the Marlins. Just disgusting to think about.

I think Zambrano gave up like half as many HR as he gave up all season in that one game.

This always irritated me. He gave up 9 HRs all season (214 IP) and 3 HRs in a span of 4 hitters in Game 1.

Some new Cubs clips I found posted by MLB:

Barrett punches out Pierzynski:

Michael Jordan throws out the first pitch before the Cubs/Giants Wild Card tiebreaker game in 1998:

Same. Left center field. Felt like we won a playoff game when I was leaving the game.
