I don't blame Crow for the game, the Blackhawks played like [expletive] today. They were dominated and looked very flat.

Yeah, Crow made some really great saves. The rest of the team just really lacked energy.

Which I think we all agree is a very good thing. Which I mean more as a compliment to St. Louis than a knock on San Jose.

I attribute that to the combination of it being a day game on the road and the desparation of the Wild. The outcome wasn't really that hard to predict. In fact, practically everyone had the Hawks in 5 for this very reason.

Handzus had his worst game as a Hawk. Hopefully that doesn't happen again.

Yeo is making a deal with the devil playing Suter 90 minutes a game.

The few times this season that the Hawks have been outplayed, they've come back and dominated. The veterans on this team know what they have to do in game 4 and they'll do it and put everyone's minds at rest.

Montreal Canadiens winger Brendan Gallagher, center Jonathan Huberdeau of the Florida Panthers and left wing Brandon Saad of the Chicago Blackhawks are the 2012-13 finalists for the Calder Memorial Trophy, the NHL announced Monday.

They'll probably give it to Gallagher since he scored the most goals, was a late round pick and plays for the Canadians. I wouldn't trade Saad for either of those guys though Huberdeau should have a really good career.

Yeah I don't expect Saad to win. He'll be penalized for playing alongside Toews, Kane and Hossa.

I guess it depends on who's voting. I don't believe other players would punish him for playing on a line with 2 stars since there's only 1 puck and 2 other guys that are used to having it. Other players would also appreciate that SAad is a very good overall player. Sportswriters, however, probably won't look past the goals scored stat- which is why Subban will probably win the Norris even though there are better defensive d men out there.

I think Saad will also lose votes because The Hawks were considered an elite team before this year, even though they were not a top 4 team in The West the last couple of years. Montreal was not considered an elite team, and Gallagher will get a lot of credit for them doing so well this season. I think with a little thought, The Hawks were probably the most improved team in The NHL this season and Saad is a huge reason why. I just do not think anyone in the media will see it that way. I think all 3 players are going to be real good players going forward. Really no shame in losing this vote.

I just think there will be a thought process that goes something like this...."When you're playing with guys that draw the amount of defensive attention that Toews, Kane and Hossa do, it's gotta be a lot easier to get open, or catch an amazing pass from one of those guys."

The Hawks PP has to improve going forward. I still have a hard time understanding why a team with so much skill is so average on the man advantage.

Because they stand around thinking that they don't have to move because someone will just make an awesome pass to a wide open guy. The other problem is that Leddy is the only good PP QB they have.

I'd like to see them take most of the stars off the power play just to get it moving.

This is why I'm never completely comfortable with Crawford

why, because he was left for dead by his team and still turned in the best non-niemi goalie performance by a hawk of the last several decades?

All 3 Wild goals basically went top right corner of the goal

no, the third was a one-timer short-side goal after oduya coughs up the puck behind the net

but anyway, hopefully brent seabrook takes his adderall tonight and quits playing like he's got post-concussion syndrome

Mark Lazarus on the radio suspecting that Carcillo will be in there instead of Bollig today.

I have no problem with that. Bollig was around the net a lot and the fourth line was pretty good in the first two games, but if you really watch Bollig, he really doesn't bring much to the table. His role on a line with Kruger and Frolik is to hit some guys and forecheck hard. He doesn't really hit anyone, and he's too slow to forecheck.

That said, Carcillo doesn't really hit either. He's at least a better skater though.

I'm fine with Carcillo on the 4th line. I just don't like when Q gets cute and tries to put him up in some of the top lines.

Honestly though, Carcillo is pretty useless too. For all the talk about adding "sandpaper" to this team over the last few offseasons, they've done a pretty poor job of picking and signing the right guys.

I'd much rather replace Bollig with Morin or Smith on that 4th line. That line has already shown it can generate chances and score goals since they don't have to face the Wild's top pair. Having a better forechecker and finisher on that line would make a bigger difference than the emergency goonishness provided by Gorilla Salad.

Sonuva.

I won't miss it, but I'll be sneaking in a sitting nap at work the next day.
