It's going to take a whole lot of bad luck to lose this series. Minnesota's gonna ugly it up so the games could be close so some bad bounces could beat us but that's the only way they do. I never really felt that threatened the whole game, even when we were down 1.

Omggggggg

What a game. My DVR was just running out on that OT. Is it me or was Keith playing poorly tonight???

yeah, it was probably one of the worst games i've seen him play. he is scary when he gets the yips.

Yeah Keith was shaky. Seabrook was not. And Leddy and Oduya were solid as well.

And full credit to the fourth line. They had some great shifts. I thought Bollig might get his first goal for a minute there.

Rolling out four lines in the playoffs is really gonna give us an advantage as these playoffs go along. How many other playoff teams can do that?

Bollig is by no means John Scott out there but he has no business playing in the playoffs against a team not named the Blues. It's not that he played badly, he was ok and I suppose made a few hits, but I'd rather see that 4th line have someone that was a threat to score. Kruger can create against 4th line guys and Frolik works hard. What that line needs is someone that can score a dirty goal. The Wild 4th line is simply not that good. If Smith or Morin are in the lineup this game likely never makes it to OT.

Reading some of the Wild fans comments on the HFboards. They're all bent out of shape cuz the fans booed Harding during the 3 stars presentation. I thought as it was happening that he really deserved some cheers from the Chicago crowd, but I think it's a bit much to EXPECT that as a road team.

That's an absurd complaint.

Haha I doubt that any team in the NHL cheers when the opponent is one of the 3 stars. Especially in a playoff game.

Also, regarding the Wild fans, I'm going to guess they all think they can win the series now?

I think they're letting themselves be encouraged that they can make some noise. I don't think many really think that they'll win the series.

Wild Fans, if they are realistic, probably know that they really had to have last night's game to have any chance in the series. Sure they hung around but in the end they still lost.

The more meathead variety fan though probably believes that Harding can and will play that well for the whole series. He seems to be the sentimental favorite in MN. Perhaps he can, but it seems to me that there's probably a reason why Backstrom played 40+ games this season.

It helps when your team is dropping 5 guys back on defense all the time. They had more shots blocked (7) in the first period than saves (6), and 21 blocked shots for the game.

Has it been determined what happened to Backstrom? Is he out for the duration?

Lower body injury, they're gonna call up a goaltender (sorry forgot his name), but it's not for sure how long Backstrom will be out. I doubt he plays Friday, at least. Speculation is that it's a groin injury.

Things that stuck out to me from last night's stat sheet:

- Michael Roszival led the Hawks with just over 27 minutes of ice time.

- Ryan Suter led the Wild with just over 41 minutes of ice time.

- Every Hawks player had a positive CORSI last night except Bryan Bickell, led by Keith, Hammer and Hossa with +10.

- Every Wild player had a negative CORSI last night except Zenon Konopka(?), "led" by Jared Spurgeon with -13, Ryan Suter with -12, and Zack Parise with -11.

It will be hard for Suter to keep logging that much TOI.

A loss in OT has to be about the worst possible scenario for the Wild in game one. They don't have the depth to sustain success if their top lines and pairings are getting double shifted.

He had 31 minutes in regulation. He did lead the NHL in average TOI in the regular season, something like 26-27 mins per game. It's a short season so I could see him logging that much, but over time he will probably be less effective.

Oduya played very well and Leddy leading the offensive charge in the zone is fun to watch.

As for the booing for the announcement of Harding as the third star, the fans always boo an opponent who is named as one of the stars. Always. Those people need to toughen up a little.
