TWO fallout boy is still a band? if yes, aren't they a bunch of has-beens no one cares about anymore? did sugar ray pass and we had to go with these guys as our backup plan?

Their last 2 albums have gone #1, the most recent one coming out 2 months ago.

ETA: And they had a song that was on some sort of sports coverage, played constantly last year, or maybe 2 years ago?

And the Blackhawks use a recent song of their in their intro/pump up.

i just remembered hearing when they broke up a while back and didn't know that ever changed. having a no.1 record is nice but it basically means you sold like 35 records.

Who was that guy who thought the singer from Nickleback (I think?) was one of the best rock vocalists ever?

I saw the lead singer from Fall Out Boy on the Armitage bus last year. He was sloppily making out with his girlfriend(?) like he was 15 and probably thinking up all kinds of terrible songs about the impending break-up.

i have a really good friend who inexplicably loves fall out boy, and it's like... dude

his defense of them is in regards to the song-craft, that they are very successful at executing on a certain type of sound, etc. and i'm all, yeah, but that's not really an accomplishment when your goal is to make entrance music for athletic events like john tesh. AND YET HERE WE ARE

In less exaggerated terms I was recently at a restaurant that is very proud of its chefs take on the McRib, which was admittedly quite good. But they also had their version of the Spicy Chicken and then at dessert their version of the Apple Pie and that was a bit over the top. Not sure why a successful chef is trying to emulate McDonald's that much.

So KLaw dropped a "70 or 80" grade on Olt's 3B defense. Didn't realize people thought he was THAT amazing there.

YO PEOPLE: What, in youse guyses opinions, is the best book on Cubs history?

we don't get to have good cubs books like jonah keri's expos or rays book or billy beane's a's book. all our books suck and are fully of sappy romanticism of losing or meatballery about curses and crap or both.

if anyone can prove me wrong i'd love to read an actual good cubs book.

There's a decent short story about the Cubs written by Rany Jazayerli up on Grantland right now.

It's so great that they could have a front page photo that is a constant reminder that Dusty broke Priors shoulder.
