RT @PWSullivan: Dempster retiring as Cub and joining front office as assistant to Theo

Between adding people to the front office and coaches/managers, is it any wonder that Ricketts is called PTR?

I'm still here waiting for the Cubs to actually spend money on the team instead of more front office positions, additional coaches, and more real estate acquisitions. I guess some of you get excited about all of that stuff, but I'm more into the players on the field.

Hey, I'm too lazy to look this up...can you help me out?

How many starting pitchers have been signed so far in free agency this year? I mean...are there even any left for the Cubs to sign?

Personal favorite because I was there. Cubs blowing it in the ninth was totally worth it because of the walk off (though from the bottom of the ninth through the top of the 13th it certainly wasn't fun).

definitely. i don't deny that a part of the reason i look forward to baseball so much and like baseball so much is that it = summer (or summer soon at least)

Javier Baez has reported to his winter ball team in Puerto Rico and is expected to start playing in games next week (Dec. 11). Theo Epstein said Friday that Baez will play four-five times a week and see time at second base and shortstop.

The Cubs new hitting coach, John Mallee is going to spend time in Puerto Rico working with Javier Baez.

Epstein told the beat writers, “Javy’s had some time away from the game and decompressed a little bit, and I think it’s certainly a testament to his work ethic and his desire to improve that he’s out there getting ready to play winter ball and get ready for the season.”

Javier Baez has been working with Cangrejeros de Santurce. The Cubs gave Baez permission to play for the remainder of the season.

FWIW, this was posted on Castro's Instagram:

Hello everyone. I want to reiterate that I am not in any trouble. Please ignore any rumors you see on the Internet as that is all they are. I do not have any problems with anybody and was just enjoying the concert with my family including both my parents and younger brother. I don't have any knowledge as to what happened and there is no reason I need to be involved.

Other reports say it was Castro himself who channeled his inner-Tony Montana and went all gangster, firing a machine gun into the crowd.

Maaaaaaaaybe a bit of misinformation.

Rough translation:

SANTIAGO. - Major League Players Starlin Castro and Engel Beltre were "invited" to go through the Homicide Department of National Police in this city, for questioning about the shooting that occurred Saturday night in Dubai nightclub .

The incident resulted in the deaths of three bullet wounds receiving medical care in the José María Cabral y Baez and in a private center unidentified. The police spokesman in Santiago, Colonel Damián Arias Matos, said both players will be interviewed by the institution the order to hear their versions of the case. Although he did not identify, said in a video of the incident, is observed at one of the players carrying a weapon jurisdiction. Anthony Santos and Omega enlivened the meeting when the altercation occurred. The injured were identified as Luis Pie, Andrés de Jesús Mateo and Carlos Jaquez Mars. Omega and Anthony Santos incident unharmed.

Edit:

RT @GDubCub: Agent for Castro says nothing to report he was questioned by DR police after a shooting. Was at concert w/ family when shots fired nearby.

RT @GDubCub: Castro agent: Starlin not remotely considered involved in shooting. Heard shots, took cover with family behind car. "No idea" who it was.

PTR needs to make room for the Castro family at the local shelter, it's safer than the DR.
