So I found the Cubs/Brewers game from September 08 where they came back from down 4-0 with two outs and nobody on in the 9th deep in my DVR and now I'm speed watching it.

I had an old SD one with a bunch of Bears games from 2006 on it too, but it recently fried.

The rolled over money is certainly not bad, but I don't think it'll make a huge difference. Unless they've locked down some significant revenue increases elsewhere and just need that ~20 million to bridge a year until those revenues are realized, the impact on total payroll would be modest. That said, having ~105-110 million to spend is certainly better than 100-105 million to spend, especially this offseason where it seems more likely the spending could be consolidated to a smaller number of potential spots.

very nice

we're not buying scherzer or anyone remotely like him. this team will live or die by the current crop of prospects and whatever we get when we trade some of them.

Damn right. Baghdad Brett won't be tricking us cool and handsome guys who are really smart.

I had the same thought and it seems like that is what he is suggesting.

I saw a pic of Javy on an ATV on Instagram and I was about to flip the [expletive] out until I saw the "Old times - miss it" caption

Well, there's going to be some significant revenue increases just from:

- WGN TV deal expiring after this year (They will get more $$$ for that package of games even if they don't get a massive TV deal)

- I presume the Jumbotron & ads would be up ASAP whenever they go forward with the Wrigley renovations.

Al Yellon with an awesome stat pull:

The Cubs haven't been over .500 and within 5 games of first after July 1 in the last five seasons. The last time they did that for a five-year stretch was 1953-1957.
