The #Cubs got two upright, non-injured pitchers for Campana. Time to drag Theo out of his office and weigh him against a duck. #Witch

I want to laugh at these people but instead they just make me mad.

I can't let them win.

Badler is doing his international signing reviews from last year:

The prize of Arizona's July 2 class was Venezuelan righthander Jesus Castillo (video), who signed for $250,000 when he turned 16 on Aug. 27. He may end up being the youngest player in the Dominican Summer League in 2012, but he's already come on quickly. A gangly 6-foot-2, 170 pounds, Castillo is from Valencia (though he also briefly lived in Spain) and trained with Oswaldo Camacho. Castillo is athletic (he used to also play soccer), has a good delivery, a long stride and gets out front well. When he signed, Castillo was throwing in the mid-80s with a loose arm and projection, and now he sits around 88-90 mph. His arm action can get long, but with his looseness and projection, his fastball should be at least a plus pitch and eventually reach the mid-90s. He has an advanced changeup for his age and it's his No. 2 pitch right now ahead of his breaking ball.

Nothing on Leal.

Oh man are the comments on the Facebook status from the Chicago Cubs funny. I'm pretty happy we got something more than some basepath chalk for the guy, but stuff like these just make the trade that much better.

cubs farm system is the worst in baseball..... 2 17 year old pitchers are not goin to change it.... I cant wait to see when campana dominates because he gets a chance! Anyone who thinks this is a good move knows nothing about baseball.... Speed Dominates the game....
Tony Campana was the most exciting player on the team. More often than not if he got on base he was good for a run. Sorry to see him go. There appeared to be issues between him and Sveum on the bench. But as long as Marmol is still closing, no lead is safe and winning apparently is not high in importance.
They wonder why we always lose. The minute we have a player who has talent we trade down for so called prospects. Its a never ending cycle. Castro and rizzo will be gone soon

@FacebookCubs is incredible. Who are these people?!

and the Cubs get rid of their most clutch hitter...but keep Soriano. hard knock life being a Cubs fan.

Cubs Facebook ‏@FacebookCubs

Get rid of Alfonzo instead of Tony. At least he had good knees.

Leal throws 87-90 right now and Badler says he's a "legit" prospect, according to CubDen. At 17, he'll likely be stateside, which says quite a bit in itself. Damn good return for someone I thought may get claimed but didn't think anyone would give anything up for.

At this point, I'm wondering what else we can trade to AZ. They're just giving stuff away at this point.

I am a fan of this strategy. When you have a guy who is a marginal major leaguer but can help a team with playoff aspirations, the younger the players are you get in return, the higher the ceiling they are likely to have. Any low risk high reward trades are good ones at this point in a rebuild.

I don't think the D'backs are any closer to playoff aspirations this year than the Cubs are. Just another dumb acquisition by Towers

I think he's saying from a Cubs POV, going for younger players could net higher reward. Not necessarily saying that the DBacks were right to make the trade.

Kudos to #Cubs: Best cure for irrational Campana worship among the masses = make him somebody else's problem, eliminate threat of another AB

How are the D'Backs fans reacting?

It wasn't worthy of a facebook status update for them.

D-Backs Bullpen is none too pleased...

I know DSL guys are a grab bag, but those are 2 that showed promise. To trade them for a known quantity of suck in Campana is just shitty.
lol wut?

I'm losing my smile here...

What are the qualifications to be a GM?

Apparently, one of them has to be having a baseball IQ that is less than or equal to that of a rattlesnake - let's say, a diamondback - and yes, I know that the comparison is unfair to rattlesnakes of every species.

I really like Leal's potential and though he is still years away from the bigs I think it's shame to lose him. Imo this is just another example of Towers' total ineptness. To trade for another no hit all hustle type at a position you are already have plenty of depth is just utterly ridiculous and has to leave anybody with any kind of knowledge about baseball dumbfound. [expletive] Towers strikes again.

I like equating "irrational Campana worship" to creating a "threat of another AB". That's a very Christina Kahrl thing to say.
