I'm inclined to always think the worst of athletes in these situations, but the accuser has a lawyer stating this and didn't file any criminal charges?

Article says that she filed criminal charges. Police just haven't acted on it yet.

I'm inclined to assume the worst with everybody's else's players, plus the bad ones on my teams.

Well, he's denying and filing a countersuit. Saying its extortion.

The catch 22 in these situations is that while it's easy to dismiss as extortion, it's also easy for the athlete/celebrity to play that card. Either way, $ tends to make these things go away, whether or not it was the intention of the accuser. Not saying that I think it's right, just saying that it is what it is.
