I like the idea of Gyorko as a 500 at bat utility guy. Think its a tad too much to give up for him, but I'd do it. Kind of think Lake could eventually fill that type of role for us. Lendy Castillo has sucked in winter ball, my guess is he's the next DFA.

I'd do it, but I'd feel a little better if half our starting pitcher candidates weren't on one year deals. Maybe they don't view Wood as a SP so its a moot point, but he's certainly nice to have to fill in the back of the rotation cheap next year if needed.

Eh. Not concerned. Have Shark and Jackson for the long-term. Vizcaino should be ready to go by next year for sure. Then there are arms in the minors that could be ready. Not to mention the possibility of signing more guys like Feldman or Villanueva next year...or even another longer term deal.

And, actually, Villanueva signed a two-year deal. So, we have a decent amount of guys locked up for next season.

Yeah I could see that. That deal wouldn't stop the cubs from going after Olt still as he could play 3b with Gyorko at 2b. And I'd love Gyorko at 2b though his bat looks good enough for 3rd.

Rizzo, Gyorko, Castro, and Olt in our infield?

And then, assuming none of those guys completely busts, trade Baez in a Price or Felix deal.

find it hard to believe we could get gyorko without giving up a player better than wood, vitters, or szczur
