Damn. Talk about plummeting value.

Shoulder injuries will do that.

Man is Hanson that broken?

Tim (AZ )

Tommy Hanson is only 25. Why is everyone so down on him?

Klaw (3:28 PM)

Because the inside of his shoulder looks like hamburger meat.

I think the problem is as much that Hanson is broke as it is that the Braves have plenty of starting pitching and they could afford to trade him. Get something for him while you can.

The guy was fairly bad last year and only once over his last 9 starts did he even get to 6 innings. Combine that with more and more arm problems and I'm surprised they were even able to get Walden. The bad part of this means that Delgado wont be moved.

I get the value of the deal. What I am curious about is why the Braves wanted Jordan Walden. With all the rumors out there that the Braves may still make a play for Justin Upton, I wonder if this sets up another deal (either moving Walden, or moving a current pen arm).

Or ... they really wanted to bolster their pen.

As for the Angels, as bad as Hanson's arm might be, I think this is a decent gamble on their part to add rotation depth.

If what i read is true, the Braves acquiring Upton is all based around giving up Andrelton Simmons. Apparently he's the piece that absolutely must be included.

Gammons tweeted something moronic this morning, insinuating the Reds won't part with Didi Gregorius in an Upton deal right now. Hell, Alcantara is as good or better than he is.

If the Braves were to wind up trading Simmons (which they've pretty much said he's untouchable at this point so I doubt it), I would hope the Cubs try and swoop in and send them Barney for another one of their pitchers.
