Rooting for Northern Illinois in the hope that no non-AQ school gets into the BCS.

Rooting for the complete opposite, even if Kent State probably would get pantsed by FSU in the Orange Bowl. (Sorry Flames.)

I don't think a team that lost by 33 to Kentucky should go to the BCS.

Yeah, we're already likely to have a blowout in the Orange Bowl with Florida State facing either the Big East winner or, if a non-AQ gets in, that team. So I'd much prefer the option of Florida facing another BCS team (likely OU as long as Kansas State doesn't lose to Texas) to Florida-Big East and Florida State-Kent/NIU/Boise.

I'll be in Detroit for the game on Friday night. Should be a fun one. Probably the biggest MAC title game since Roethlisberger's Miami Ohio team faced a ranked Bowling Green team in 2003.

I would think that Kent State would be a shoe-in for an Orange Bowl appearance if they win. If NIU wins, they could make the Orange Bowl, but they'd need a little bit of help too. The Orange Bowl committee is going to be on hand too, so there's a somewhat realistic chance that one of them could be going to a BCS game.

It's a shame that NIU lost to Iowa in the first week of the season. They'd be a definite lock for a BCS game with a win against Kent State.

I'm sure Orange Bowl officials would be THRILLED with that development.

Rutgers vs. Kent State would be the lowest rated Orange Bowl in history.

I actually think the Orange Bowl wouldn't care much. Florida State will be the draw for them. The dropoff from Louisville or Rutgers to Kent State isn't that large because none of those teams have great football fanbases. I also think Kent State would get better television ratings than either of the Big East winners.

The Sugar Bowl is probably sweating this out though. If Kent State gets in, they suddenly go from having Florida versus Oklahoma to Florida versus Louisville/Rutgers/Kent State. That's a much bigger dropoff.

The ACC winner is the one tied in to the Orange Bowl. Also, Rutgers vs Kent State would have been somewhat unlikely anyway since Kent State already beat them this season.

Yeah, the Orange is boned either way with Florida State's opponent.

Kind of weird Florida gets in over Georgia.

Yeah, I can see it's because Georgia would have an extra loss (to AL this week), but the 3rd place SEC team would fairly regularly make the playoff then while the SEC Championship game loser wouldn't make it. Right?

BTW-if the goal is to determine the best team, I hope they don't expand to 8. If this is little league and the goal is to make sure that every team that has an argument that it should get a shot at the title is included, then let's invite 16 teams. More 1-game playoffs against weaker teams means luck plays a bigger role in determining the champ. Maybe that's what folks want, but I doubt it.
