Game 9 - Houston Texans @ BEARS - 7:20 PM SNF

Posted
After some slight backpedaling on the call, Owen Daniels is now officially out.

That's pretty big, but I still think the Cody injury is bigger. Texans will still use their other TEs. Bears prepared for Daniels. Hopefully they don't change their gameplan last minute. Houston sure isn't going to.

I don't see how it matters if the Bears prepared for Daniels. He's better than their other TE, so that's all good.

Bad weather has to benefit the Bears. Windy conditions surely benefit our kicking game, big time. Gould is the best at this type of situation.

Gould is the best, but Shayne Graham isn't bad himself. He's right behind Gould in FG accuracy all-time (IIRC) and he played a while in Cincy on the Ohio River, so he's played in some wind before.

Why?

Because of the next sentence.

What about the rest of the aspects of the game unrelated to kicking?

Seems like there isn't going to be much of a running advantage for either team, if there's sloppy conditions due to rain. Both teams can play dink n' dunk in the passing game if they have to.

Here's my fearless prediction: if there's significant swirling wind tonight, Graham is going to miss a kick because of it. Let's hope it's a big one.

I'm so hyped for this game. I know the hope was to split the next 2 games, and the SF game is more important for conference tiebreaker purposes, but man I really want to win this game. Win this one and the split is the worst case scenario. Lose and people will talk all week about how the Bears aren't good enough.

I'm probably setting myself up to be disappointed this evening, but I can't wait to see highlight shows if the Bears win this. The Falcons lost so the "best team in the NFL" label is up for grabs.

It's a big game for us. Maybe it's just me, but I'd like to see the Bears come through in one of these "crossroads" games for a change.

i think they win those types of games a lot. remember when they beat the eagles in 2010 to end vick's winning streak? and then the jets later that year. last year they smoked the lions at the height of their power.

the only team i'm afraid of is the packers.

I hate to seem like I'm picking on you...but for a change?

They've won plenty of big games in recent years.

also, the eagles were favored on mnf last year... not quite as big but it was very big for us at the time.

Maybe it's the darn Packer games. Feels like whenever the Bears are ready to be declared one of the league's best, something bad happens.

NOT TONIGHT.
