A totally new injury could occur. Easy to say when you're not paying him $17 million a year.

maybe he should never play again, just in case

You do what is necessary to prepare, but the extra stuff seems like a slap in the face if you can't play in the playoffs 2 months after being cleared. Playing with Team USA isn't necessary.

If you're trying to make an argument for what's essentially club vs country (basketball version), then I guess it's a valid argument, but if you're simply worrying about him randomly getting hurt, then you're nuts. He could contract Lassa fever in Brasil. He could get hit by a bus. He could decide he wants to sell his possessions and live in Tibet, and those would all be as random as him getting hurt playing 17 minutes a game for the US this summer.

If your point is about his contractual value to the Bulls, then one could make the counter argument that you'd rather he go through the "trusting your nee" part of rehab with the national team as opposed to on your dime, during games for your club.

You are much more likely to miss significant time due to injury next year playing ball with Team USA than anything else Edited by Wilson A2000

HE NEEDS PLAYING TIME. WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS WRONG ABOUT EVERYTHING.

I think he is an upgraded version of the hardcorecubfan AI. It makes more grammatical sense but still lacks the logic algorithm.

Regular season games are dangerous too. Rose should just not play until the 2014 playoffs. Just to be safe.

I don't even see a point you are making here. He has all season to get into shape. He has 6 months of games to get ready for what really matters - the '14 NBA playoffs. No reason to risk playing with Team USA.

Uh, what? Based on what? Are there greater injury rates for NBA players playing for their national teams than I'm aware of? Because I'm pretty sure you're just meatballin' right now.

He's statistically more likely to get hurt washing his car or slipping in the shower.

Except that every single medical evaluation of ACL rehab involves playing in competitive games to break through the mental barrier of trusting the ligament and breaking scar tissue. Him playing for the national team allows him to get through that crap during non-meaningful games, thereby allowing him to be in better form when the NBA season starts.

This isn't hard.

The Bulls won't get one single seed higher if Rose plays with Team USA. But the injury risk could wreck their season.

You could structure that sentence the same way about him leaving his house, or eating at restaurants, or playing XBox or literally any other non-basketball related activity.

There's obviously a greater risk playing in practice/games with that level of intensity than private workouts. People get hurt far more often there than in the offseason.

Do you really want him risking blowing out his knee prior to the 2014 playoffs? Dude could tank his entire career in some random regular season game against Toronto. The smart play would actually be to hold him out until the 2014 NBA Finals. He would be well-rested and healthy. No brainer imo.

It's called preseason. He'll be in just fine form by November.

If you disregard the medical standard for ACL recoveries, then you're right.

Otherwise, your logic is bad and you should feel bad.

And lose home court advantage and the 1 or 2 seed.

That is a good point and his XBox gaming should be limited to those Lego games. No Call of Duty games. COD games get stressful and place undue stress on the thumbs in addition to the mind. He should only place peaceful, non-stressful XBox games until his rehab is complete.

I nominate SSR to eulogize the 2012-2013 Bulls like they do for hockey teams over at SBnation.

Yeah I bet the medical standard says play in absolutely unnecessary games when you get could the very same thing in the preseason and lessen your chance of reinjury or a new injury. Sure.

Who needs HCA with a healthy D-Rose? You simply get there. He comes back. Boom goes the dynamite. Championship! The plan is so simple even Carlos Boozer understands it.

Preseason games are glorified practices with the intensity of a game of bocce ball at a retirement home.

The percentages are far higher for injuring yourself playing pro sports than daily living I would imagine

Tell that to a baseball player. Trash bag watermelon elbow, nightmares about spiders, running face first into patio doors...the world is fraught with peril man.
